Removing ECU

I am removing my stock ECU and sending it off to Technosquare (Woo hoo ). Anyway, I am looking through the Haynes manual. Unless I am reading incorrectly, they call our ECU the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Is this the same as the ECU?

If so, it also tells me to disable the SRS system. Is this entirely necessary to disconnect those plugs? I know I am to disconnect the battery and leave it for ten minutes. But then I have to disconnect the driver's side and passenger side airbags. Is that required? Thanks.

disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the panels down by your feet (both sides) The ECU is in the middle of the center console, on the floor and up against the firewall. Its held down by two bolts, undo these and the bolt holding the wire harness.
This is not an easy job and take patients.

Thanks.

But do I really need to disconnect the driver's side and passenger side airbag connectors after disconnecting the battery for 10min? Thanks.
