Need Opinions On A Wheel

Hey guys.....let me know what you think of these wheels for my 2000 I30. My car is silver in color and I have yet to do any suspension work....

I am also struggling with which size to go with....has anyone run a set of 19's? If so, tell me about your experience.

Any and all input is welcome...THANKS

Well you should go with whatever wheels YOU think look best. Don't worry about what other people say, you're the one paying for it. Personally, I really like those wheels, but just don't think they'd look that great on an I30. I'm a much bigger fan of a 5-spoke design.

As for running 19's...its definitely possible but from what I've heard the ride becomes harsher (especially since you WILL need to lower your car to make it look good), and I couldn't justify spending the extra cash. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy a nice set of 18's and use the money you save to get your suspension taken care of.

I like that style a lot and love the lip.....but you never know how they will fit with the look of the car until they are mounted. I say stick with 18's...I can hardly stand the ride with my 17's. What width are they and what tire sizes are you looking at.

He's right. I went to another forum asking the same type question (only because I can get a huge discount on these 2 sets of wheels.) No one seemed to like the style although I do like the style. here are the pics on an I35

boogie i am going through the same problem. 18s are safe and cheaper but i am worried that they will look too small. does anyone know if will i have to lower my car to make either one look good, and if i do isnt the ride always terrible? As for the rims your looking at stay with silver, my bros got a silver 2.7t and all the chrome ones look cheesy on his ride. But like A-ron said its ultimately your opinion that counts.

1st off ...thanks for all the input!!!

Ron - You are definitely right. I personally REALLY like that style of wheel. So who cares what others think right!! (that is....unless they are wearing a miniskirt with a banging body lol)

Mike - Thanks for the support. I definitely think I will go with the 18's and the lip is the main reason I like those wheels. I am looking at a 235/40 series. Do you have a suggestion?

GQ - I like the second set of wheels. I am looking to stay with a silver finish. My car is silver, so I think the combination will look good. Plus I want more of a subtle look than chrome.

karkov - from what I have been told, lowering after the wheel upgrade is not an "option" it is a "necessity". There are some options for lowering that don't destroy your ride (I believe) And I am definitely sticking with the silver finish.

Does anyone have any suggestions on lowering? i am lost when it comes to the basics.

H&R springs are one of the best sets of lowering springs in terms of not giving your car a harsh ride. Get those and some kyb agx struts and you'll be in good shape. Although if you wanna save more money you should be fine w/the cheaper gr2 shocks too.

H&R springs are very good (for the money). I had a set on my 97 Accord with some Tokico shocks. Its was a very good combination. (The drop once settle was around 1.7 inches) I would love to use some on my I35, but I just can't see the car lowering more than .75 of an inch. Thats mainly the reason I want to get 19's. My only problem is the limited styles available in 19" wheels (no matter what finish.) I may wind up sticking with my 17's till the new M35 (the I's replacement) comes out in 2005.

I like those too but there is just one little problem. The FX wheels are a six bolt 114.3, not a 5 114.3. I almost ordered a set of the 18's for my I.

You can buy bolt adapters, but the performance of ride will suffer big time. The car will have lots of vibration, your steering wheel will wobble, and the alignment will be off by a few degrees.
