For the price, S/C is a good way to go if you want boost. As mentioned a cheaper alternative if you don't have the money to sink into a turbo kit. Plus you can get some pretty substantial gains if you decided to add on to it in the future. I see your also in Tacoma, check out www.nwmaxima.com that's local forums. When we have a meet, you should come up and see iansw car. I bet he'd be willing to take you for a ride if you want to see what S/C cars can do. Plus, if you do get the kit, you might be able to round up a few of us, and save yourself some money on the install.

What kind of hp will i be looking at with a supercharger+y-pipe+ greddy sp cat? anything helps. I need some justification for spending that kind of cash on this especially since its taking away from my vacation to tokyo.

To me it was worth it. Though, I wish I converted to 5-spd before goign with the SC. You can see my dyno runs on my maxima cardomain page in my sig of what i put down with my y-pipe and greddy sp cat-back.

Actually, I just remembered that dyno was with the 3.33" pulley which was about 9psi. Even the stock 6psi pulley I heard is still worth it, I just chose to go with the 9psi off the break so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. You can learn as well as purchase a VB upgrade from http://maximumtuning.net. I don't know how much they go for now. And for you having an auto, a vb upgrade and tranny cooler is recommended.

hehe, you still haven't seen iansw car. You'll be drooling all over that. 321hp and 266 tq at the wheels. I think Ian may still have his tranny cooler on his car....might see if he can pull it and sell it to you.

Hehe, thanks. This is strange for me because I just randomly posted in this forum after about a half year of not being boosted anymore. I'm glad to be of some help. I had the Hayden 404 tranny cooler I purchased from a local Pep Boys for abuot $50.

May 1st, we will be having the 1st annual NWM Import Challenge at Woodburn, in Oregon...you should go. Also if you do get a kit, let us know, we can probably help you with the install.

SCer and auto thumbs down. That auto tranny is so heavy is just crap. Instead of beefing it up, just do a 5 spd swap. Thats just my opinion. Until someone that actually goes out and tears up some **** Ill be a firm believer in auto trannies.

I would go with the Stillen supercharger(only one available) and warpspeeds 3 inch exhuast. It is a great value and will be the same price as greddy exhuast and y-pipe from somewhere esle.

Always looking for the homie hookup, huh Blackwind?

If you stay Auto (which I recommend against), it will cost about $600 to put the VB Mod in your car.
If you go 5spd, it will cost aorund $1200 if you shop right and find a decent tranny at a decent price.
But 5spd is WELL worth the extra $600. Like I've heard someone here say before: "You drive the car in a 5spd, in an Auto the car drives you."

You also need to buy gauges. Fuel Pressure and EGT are a must. A Boost gauge also is a good idea. Those will run you about $450-$550 for decent gauges. You may consider going with a smaller pulley, but that WILL void your warranty with Stillen if you buy the kit new. If you do plan on going with a smaller pulley, then just buy a used SC Kit because you won't have a warranty anyway and SC's are pretty reliable as a whole.

There is a huge group of people in the NW that have helped and/or watched me do installs on my car. ebmorgan (DJ-Ebam on NWMaxima, owner of NWMaxima) and myself are the two who have actually installed a SC. However, many others know how the system works and I'm confident we could get it done for you. Maximan on NWMaxima also has a SC, as well as BlackCat. I believe they didn't install themselves, however.

Same with 5spd swaps. They're actually not too difficult.

(Well, nothing on a car is difficult if you just take your time and attack it with some amount of thought.)

wheres that maxima at? how many times did he runs 12's? does he still own the car? why did bags auto tranny break and he was boosting what 6-9PSI? Someone else that is local here in Atl broke his auto tranny 2-3 times before they did it right. How much cash did he spend? at least right at $4-5K in auto tranny mods. not worth it. Remember I was auto too for a while with my 95. after the swap I could tell the difference.

You should come then and see how badly I tear him up. Then you'll definately want the 5spd.

I'm sure the guys around here will install a 5spd for a very decent price. Most of them just like the opportunity to get under a car.

I would even offer, but I'm getting married this year and I'm still trying to gauge how much that's going to change my "car time".

But yeah, there's someone around here modding someone's car pretty much every weekend. Post on NWMaxima and I'm sure those guys would be willing to help.

With my 5spd conversion I did alot of shopping around and got a used tranny, axles, ACT Stage 1 Clutch, Fidanza lightened flywheel and all accessories (axle, custom clutch lines, master cylinder, slave cylinder, etc, etc) for about $1200.

Of that, the Clutch and Flywheel were $500. So the tranny and all other parts beside that were about $700.

the auto will take away some power. over all the s/c is def worth it. i have a 5spd and 3.33 pulley and love it and it is my everyday driver. i havnt put on my cold air intake and im getting 9psi right now. so im guessing that is close to 280 WHP. I have some issues with belts and idler pulleys but over all its great. the max is one of the fastest cars on the highway. i have mine up to 160mph, it will role
