Help on right 2.5" exhaust, please!

Ok guys, I need your help. I am getting ready to purchase a stage 1 ACT clutch kit, lightened flywheel, and I also want to get a 2.5" exhuast. My main concern, besides quality, is sound. I want to have the nice rich sound but not an annoying idle hum. I'm hoping to make it as close to a 350Z as possible. I have been seriously considering the warpspeed 2.5" complete exhaust for $599, but how does it sound. The kind of note I like is something like the 350Z, or as similar to an M3 E36 as possible. Nice, deep, mean, but not ricey! Please, any good points? Thanks, Alex

I'd like to know as well... This has been one of my main concerns...also, which muffler; Dynomax Turbo or Magnaflow?

I've got a warpspeed 2.5" w/ resonator & Magnaflow (+ y-pipe). It's too loud for me.

However, Warpspeed is making a new one that uses a quiter muffler and it is supposed to reduce the sound by 1/2. I should be installing the new version in a week or two.

Yeah, something quiter would be great. My cousin just picked up the VW Golf R32 last night, we walked in and luckily they had the last in stock-black magic pearl. What a nice car and beautiful sound in the exhaust, that would be something I'd like in an exhaust note. He keeps encouraging me to try the G35 and just save my money and go for that, but I love my Max too, although that car looked mighty nice at the autoshow. It's strange how the autoshow gets you thinking...

i reccomend magnaflow highly. its the bomb. very mean deep sound. no rriiceee. and if you think it's to loud just throw on a resonator...a decent exhaust shouldn't cost more then 400 bucks installed. btw if you want you can buy a tunable muffler with multiple baffles and what not they allow you can change the sound you make...i know this old guy in a bright orange firebird and that thing sounds so mean with those muffs on it....

edit: ps g35s are rediculously hot.

I just built an exhaust for my car last weekend. It is 2.5 inch mandrel with no resonators and afterburner muffler. Afterburner is made by flowtech, which is a Holley owned company. It sounds really good at idle with a nice low rumble, but it is too loud once throttle is applied. I am going to put a resonator on it when I get some time, but I will try to get a sound clip of it when I get a chance.

I am pretty happy with it though, considering I spent roughly $160(resonator will be an extra $40) for parts and a Sunday afternoon fabricating, so it is well worth it.
