Car shakes at 60+ mph

Okay, about 2-3k miles ago a bought new tires and had a 4 wheel alignment done. I have a 97 maxima SE btw. My car shook at higher speeds before hand but it had 2 different types of tires on it, so it was expected. Now the fishy part of this is it doesn't always shudder or shake. Sometimes it will do it and sometimes it wont, even on the same roads. This only happens around 60 mphs. Sometimes it wont start till i hit 80. Anyone know what this can be?

How many miles on the car - how old is your suspension? Could be rear shocks - was in my case.

Go to a shop that uses one of those and your problems will most likely be solved.

it has 89k miles right now. I have no clue how old the suspension is. It might still be the stock set.

yeah...it is probably tire balance...not alignment. Sometimes, tires will be in balance at lower speeds, but not at higher speeds. Mine did this a while back.

I got my wheels balanced and rotated and worked fine afterwards.

check and make sure that all four wheels have the little counter weights on them...I had a similar issue and it turned out that one of my tires was missing the little weights they add when balancing.

total cost to repair was like $10.

hope this helps,

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm taking my car to get new breaks / cut rotors, oil & transmission fluid change tomorrow. So, I will just have them rebalance the tires and check for the little weights.

Jgigs, I would recommend that you just look for some new rotors and have them put on or put them on yourself. Maxima rotors (at least 4th gens) are pretty notorious for being kinda thin. Therefore, when you turn them, you are wasting money because they will warp again really quickly. I did this and they warped again under normal driving conditions in about another 1,000 miles. That is horrible.
Just trying to give you a heads up.
