02 sensor runined by techno?

is it possible my techno ecu ruined my o2 sensor? I had my techo on for 3 or 4 days. Then put the stock ecu back in . Now with the stock ecu i get the same code for the same o2 sensor that i got with the techno, and the check engine light wont go off.

I have a 97 gxe , I am getting code p1036 which is the 02 Bank 1 sensor 2 malfuction.

Can anyone shine some light for me, I hope the techno ecu didnt ruin the sensor.

how much mileage you have on your O2? if both ECU report malfunction O2, then it mite really mean your O2 is dead.

i say reset your ECU. drive around for couple days and see if the CEL comes back. if it does, reset the ECU again and do the same thing. it comes back again then it confirms you have malfunction O2.

Didn't you know that you'll get the rear o2 sensor code in a 97 with a 95 or 96 ECU?

I understand that deezo, I get the code with my STOCK 97 ecu , which i stated in the desciption

"I had my techo on for 3 or 4 days. Then put the stock ecu back in . Now with the stock ecu i get the same code for the same o2 sensor "

"I have a 97 gxe "

I put my 97 ECU BACK IN and im getting the same codes, so i am wondering why ? I had no check engine before the techno ecu with my stock one, but now i do.

Any help would be great.

try re-intalling your stock ecu, but first unplugg your battery before installing. I had a similar problem with my ecu when I did my 5 speed conversion. By the way are you still selling the techno ecu or what?

I unplugged the connector from the battery when i removed the techno in the first place .. Which is why i dont understand why im getting the light still. I will disconnect the battery, reinstall the ecu again, and reset it.

What i dont understand is i did all that once already, and the light is still on, but before i put the techno in, I had no light... It doenst make sense to me why it would come on now..

As for the Ecu, someone has sent money, but if that doesnt go through there are a few already in line.

Any other help or suggestion would be great help,

Thank you !

How do you get mad at people for not helping you if no one else has experienced it? It's not our fault that no one else has had this problem and can't shed any light on the subject.

If someone has a diagram of both the 96 and 97 wiring harnesses and labels for each wire, we could look at that and figure out where the o2 sensor wire connects to on the 96 vs 97, and see if perhaps the connection made by intermingling the 96 and 97 wiring could cause the o2 sensor wire on your 97 to be connecting to something that draws too much current thru the 96 ECU and perhaps fry a sensor.

I don't see any other way that the ECU could affect a sensor. I would think it would be the other way around if anything.

That said, the o2 sensor won't affect the ultimate performance of your car. At WOT the ECU ignores all o2 sensor inputs entirely and runs in open loop mode, in which it runs preprogrammed fuel and timing maps which have nothing to do with the o2 sensors.

This could all just be a strange coincidence too. Maybe you just have an o2 sensor going bad.

For what it's worth, I have been driving my car with a missing o2 sensor for the last 65k miles (and it was faulty when I bought the car also). My car has suffered no ill effects from this. The only indication that anything is wrong is the check engine light.

I guess im surprised that with all the knowledge on this forum, that no one would know what it's from, thats all. I am sorry if i offened you, I didn't mean for it to come out to be that way. You have to understand where im coming from and the headache im getting from all this.

I guess my only option is to replace the o2 and go from there because i dont want to have my check engine light on.

Sorry again !

Go buy a Chilton's repair manual ($18) and a voltmeter ($10) and test the O2 sensor. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new 02 sensor.

I have one, so lets say I do test it, and it works fine.. Then what would be my problem? I work at a Stealership , and they have a scanner that i believe can read the voltage?? what should the voltage read if it's good / if its bad??

thanks ! !

I'd bet that it's just a coincidence.. it wouldn't be too unbelieveable that a 7 year old oxygen sensor died.

So why all the whining here at the .Org? You work for a Stealership with access to scaning tools. Come on, you must be able to scan your car for free...and get discount for a new part that you may need.

Well you have never worked at a stealership before??? .. NOTHING IS FREE .. and its very hard to get access for a Nissan Scanner at a Saturn Dealer. There are two Mechanic's that have the right tools, and they charge me . If it was as easy as you think EZEmaxima I wouldn't be "whinning", but they dont want to help either unless I toss money their way .. and they also dont want to work on " Japanese pieces of ****, because im giving the Japs that attacked us in WWII money buy buying their products"

I still would like to know what readings for the voltage would be if it's good / if its bad.

As for discount, I get 20% off. 20% off 140$ for the rear o2 is 112$ .

Yeah you're right...i never worked for a stealership before but i have atleast six friends that do. They take the tool home during the weekend so they can scan my car. And he does work for GM "Mr good wrench"

I think it's more of your attitude toward your co-worker that's preventing you from getting the perks of working at a stealership. I don't even know you , but just from this posts you recently made makes me think you are the type thats aggressive and wants things done your way.

And as for your co-workers attitude saying that "JAPANESE ARE PIECES OF ****"....Tell them to screw themselves cause JAPANESE cars are better than American cars..." My ex G/F's Saturn broke down with only 20,000 miles. The damn water pump leaked and water/coolant got to the timing belts and made it slip causing the timing to go off and bending the valves." Then she had to wait for over a month to get her car back.

What is a MOOOCHER? MY friends just don't take the tool home if it's the company's tool, they ask their supervisor first. But most of the time they use their own tool.

Now it's all coming to me....you're the one that the mechanics that don't like cause you go kissing up to the VP.
