Self Window Tinting

Does anyone know how hard it would be to install one of these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2461663034

Would you recommend this?

Good tint, bad to try to do it yourself though. It is rare that a first time tinter will come out with results that look clean and professional. It is worth paying a professional to do it, and make sure you get a warranty as well. Check out my site, there are some pictures of my tint job. Cost about $200 here in Minneapolis, but it is a fully metalized tint meaning that it has no dyes to darken the tint, which is what makes tint turn to purple when it fades. I have Solargard Quantum 19% tint all around and I LOVE it! I also have a lifetime warranty that covers everything.

Very nice black maxima. You should add more pics of it. Did you pay for new euro tail lights or did you DIY? Thanks for the tip. I didnt think about the lifetime warranty some places offer. Where can I find information on how much tint NY allows? thanks.

still running that gab?

looks like legal tint in NY is around 70%, so if your window are too dirty you could probably get a ticket, let alone with tint.

LOL, hey bro, Im surprised you still remember (the GAB)... Hope everything is going well for you. When they say 70% what does that mean, I can have my windows 70% darker or that I can only tint it 30% dark? I dont understand these things. And i see a lot of people with dark tint, so that doesnt help.
where did you find out its 70%?

Hows your max doing btw? hit me back.

Oxidizer2k, It is actually the Deep Evergreen color. I will throw some more pictures up on my site. My girlfriend bought me the red/clears! I was going to diy, but she beat me to it, lol. www.tintdude.com/laws.html has legality info on tint. It is 72% for front and rear doors, but anything on the rear window. I thought I had it bad in Minnesota with 50% limits. What the 72% means is that you can only put tint on that allows 72% or more of the outside light to transmit through the window. This means that 50% effectively cuts the light going into your car by half. I had my windows tinted at Auto Visions in Eden Prairie.

ill never forget getting smoked by my first 5gen

smaller the percent the darker the tint, higher the percent lighter the tint. IMO i wouldnt bother paying to get that light of a tint, your windows would be darker if they were a little dirty.

70% means you can go 70% and up(lighter)

same as last time only now with vb rsb and rear red/clears

Ah yea thats the place i went to to get a quote on a price for tint. They quoted me roughly $250 for the quantum film. I want to see that film in person some time, cause im thinking of tinting in the next month or two.

hehe...I tried to tint....came out well bad...no bubbles but one corner had a bit of a 1 cm flap/no adhesion to it. Also, I tried to tint with the window rolled up...

Anyway, I just stopped tinting at my front drivers side window ('cuz it didn't look great). Oh well, the tint did it's job, kept myself outta the sun. When I got my inspection sticker 7 months later, they said it wasn't legal! lol....sigh....even though I bought 20% tint, it read 13%. I just pulled it off right then and there(thanks to the corner flap ). Next time, I'll just pay a pro with warranty.

Man, you didnt get smoked, you gave up.. But the funny thing is, when you car down shifted, your tranny was loud as hell... And i waited for your engine to rev high and then thats when i floored my car... But that was still fun though.

To make it look better, you should roll the window down so you have an 1/8th to 1/4 inch gap between the seam and window. Then apply tint from there. You'll have to make sure you tuck extra tint into the bottom seam of the window if you do this. If you don't do that, then you'll have a quarter inch gap of clear window on the top of the window(like i had).
