im not sure, my dad went and picked it up while i was taking it off, im thinking at autozone, he don't go to the dealerships that much, but then again i could be wrong. im thinking autozone=50 bucks cause i know dealerships would be around 80 or so i've heard.

I am 99% sure you cann't just replace that ball joint. The whole control arm has to be changed. I just removed my steering knuckle last weekend

oh sorry, forgot to mention this was on my 93, it has 3 bolts on the bottom and one holding the actualy ball joint to the steering knuckle. i thought it would be the same thing on my 98 but i haven't had a ball joint problem with that yet, and didn't notice if it was a whole with the control arm or if it can be pressed out of it.

3rd gens can replace just the ball joint, 4th gen's cannot. I have seen the whole control arm on some discount nissan part sites for around $120 I believe.

I just replaced my lower ball joints a couple of months ago because the boots were shredded. Nissan does not sell them by themselves. You have to by the whole arm OR go to a place like Napa and buy just the joints for about $40 each. I removed the arms myself and had a shop use a hydraulic press to press the joints out and in. I also replaced the rubber bushings with Energy Suspension bushings. http://www.courtesyparts.com/energys...on/maxima.html You might need help from the shop to get the old bushings removed. The shop I found did all this in about 30 minutes and charged me $20.

Rockauto.com has the joints for $23.79. I wish I had gotten them there instead of at Napa for about $40, but I kinda got myself in a corner and needed them quick.

What are symptoms of a bad ball joint or control arms?

I'm starting to hear clunkings noises in the front whenever I go over uneven pavement or potholes...is this more likely my struts are shot?
