Need Advice on Exhaust

I have recently bought a 98 Maxima and am in the process of modding it for this summer. I have bought a Stillen Muffler section exhaust and was wondering if anyone has purchased the Cat back Section and if it was worth the money or if there is another company that makes the section for a little more reasonable price than 400 shipped???

Also I was wondering what are the best lowering springs for the car I've purchased the H&R springs but haven't paid yet if they aren't that great please let me know so I can choose something else.

First of all.........anything is more reasonably priced than Stillen. They make good quality parts, but they are way out there in the cost. Let's put it this way, I will probably never put anything new Stillen on my car, unless it is a Super Charger kit for it.

Next, Cat backs are a waste of time. I mean, you don't gain all that much(6-8hp). Most of what you gain is a whole lot of noise. What you need to do first is get a y-pipe from Budget or something(www.budgetexhaust.com). They are about $180, but you will get 15-20 hp, just from that. Then, you could have some custom make you a b-pipe out of 2.5" piping for like $50. This will get you 5-6 of the power out of that total 6-8 from the cat back. You don't need a test pipe/highflow cat. No need for all that money to just get maybe 1-2 hp. See the following threads:

Those should be helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I can see the price problem I paid almost 400 for a muffler section...however I've had the normal (fart can) and I dont' like that style of exhaust so I decided to bite the bullet and go for what I would surely regret.....Stillen's price. I love the sound, ease of installation and quality like you said. And I agree that cat back exhaust is a waste of money however mine was pretty much gone and needed to be replaced...breaking something is great just an excuse to upgrade.

I think I will end up just buying OEM cat back just because the exhaust sounds exactly the way I want it to now.

thanks for the input
