BOSE question probably asked 1,000,000 times already...

I am buying the 7" Microvision screen. I am also buying a Blaupunkt DVD/CD/MP3 player. I know I have to buy the Scosche OEM Amplifier Adapter... so my question is, do I have to disable anything else? I want a nav system but that'll run me at least $800.

Suggestions? I'm no the guy who's into having six 4000 watt amps and two 24" speakers in his car so loud that he's deafening people 2 states over... but I'd like a nice little in dash multimedia system setup so that I can maybe add XM or Nav later. Thanks!

You have to get a Bose Adaptor so you don't burn up your aftermarket equipment, I work at Cartoys, I'm a MECP Certified Installer. Go to a shop and ask them for a adaptor, other than that, you have to replace the speakers and by-pass the amps.

Isn't that what this is? I'm buying the Scosche OEM Amplifier Adapter.

You do Not any adaptor. And you will not burn Anything up. Some people just have these ideas in their head and they are Very falsified.

Add Male RCA leads to your factory speaker leads and plug them into your preouts. Done

If you do what Pearl Max said you are gonna have to crank up the volume to even here anything, it's not a good Idea, a aftermarket deck works on 4 ohm speaker outputs the Bose are 1 to 2 ohm speakers, that is why you need a adaptor, and yes you will BURN up your deck if you don't do it the right way. Ask any professional installer.
Peace out. Dave S.

Yes please do ask a Professional installer. As I have only been doing this for 16+ years. Impedance levels have nothing to do with signal/line outs. Please get your info straight before providing someone else with it. Would you like me to pull out MANY Org members that have this setup in their car with ZERO problems? Or possibly you just Misread my post about using preouts, NOT speaker leads? Im hoping so.

I'm a big fan of the PAC OEM-1 converter that I installed in my Maxima. It may not actually provide any improved sound quality (arguable), but it was plug-n-play, has separate gain controls for each output (good because someone screwed up by rear wiring with a LOC), and best of all, I was able to do all of the wiring/splicing inside, instead of inside my car when it was -10 out. $43 shipped.

As for your claim about burning up headunits...wouldn't this only be the case if you were using the BOSE speakers WITHOUT the factory amplifiers? It was my impression that the factory amps modulate the current sent through the BOSE speakers as required, and that there is little to no risk of damaging an aftermarket HU. After all, an aftermarket HU does little more than send an audio signal to the BOSE amps. Its not really outputting 23W RMS, is it?

This is not the same thing that the poster originally asked (they wanted to know about preouts, not speaker wiring)

Don is right.....please don't post BS that is incorrect. It is correct to connect RCA's to the head unit's outputs (pre outs), and then splice the other end onto the speaker wire feeding the BOSE AMP..because that's what it is, AN AMP!!
If one were to connect a head unit's speaker leads directly to the bose speaker by bypassing the bose amp then a head unit would be fried.
There is no need to spend $40+ on an adapter that isn't needed. I doubt you are MECP certifies, and if you ARE, then they need to revamp the MECP training program....sounds like a

OK guys,
I misunderstood what he said about the RCA, last time I did that it made little sound at high volume, possibly since the car did not have amplifiers on each speaker, but I am a MECP Basic certified installer and am currently testing for the First Class test. I'm not putting out a personal attack like some of you guys, I'm simply saying that it would be better for someone who didn't know what they were doing to just go by the easiest way. You should know how many things come into shops that people try to do on there own and mess it all up, I work at a professional shop and have to fix all kinds of messes. Sorry if you thought my advice was wrong, and that I simply tried to help. And yes I know the output of the deck is nowhere near the amount it says. But you guys should also know that if the amp as small as it is on the deck, is connected to the BOSE amps, it risks destroying the amp on the speakers and/ or in the deck. anyway, I appologize for any misleading info, even though either way would work. And no I'm not a NEWBIE.
See ya.

no one said to connect the deck's speaker leads to the amp.

we said to connect the deck's pre-outs to the amp.

MECP is uselss man, im sorry....unless you wanna know what fire extinguisher to use for a certian type of fire...or if you want to know at what sound level will cause hearing loss.

it's not hard to do what is mentioned..and i think that someone with basic knowledge can do this install...it's not something that is difficult
