Got my crank position sensor replaced AND test drove a 350!

I wasn't having any problems to start with but since I got the recall letter I decided to have the crank position sensor replaced anyway. I do notice that the car is quite a bit smoother at idle and it runs a little better-almost like it was new again. Everyone should get this done. On a side note, the sales rep kinda goaded me into taking a white 350 6 speed for a spin while I was waiting for the work to be done. I was pretty hesitant since I haven't driven a manual tranny in about 7 or 8 years, and even then, it wasn't frequently enough for me to get comfortable with it. But, he convinced me to give it a shot. Suprisingly, I only stalled it once, at a stopsign, during what probably amounted to about a 4 mile test drive. Other than that, I did okay. Bucked quite a bit but did better than I thought I'd do That car is so sweet. He offered me a pretty good deal on a trade in but I just can't justify it right now. My Max runs perfect, has tons more room, which lately I have really needed, and is a LOT nicer inside. But man that Z is so sexy

I must be getting to be an old fart but I do not like the 350z. Fun, yes.....fast, ditto but I do not like the fact that it sort of traps you inside way too much sheet metal....it feels like you are peering out of a mail slot.

Plus, I have ridden shifter karts that feel like they ride smoother....it is a kidney-buster, way, WAY too stiffly sprung...

If I were into a two-door (which I not be) I would take the G35 Coupe anyday....

Yea, I know the 350Z interior looks cheap when compared to the 5th gen Maxima......IMHO

That's what we're doing. The max is actually my "Dad" car. I kept my 95 Talon TSi turbo for modding and beating. Somehow I made the case that I needed a 6 speed LSD in the max!

We could afford a SUV I just can't get myself to want to drive a brick.

my friend has a z, which i've driven a few times. clutch is touchier than the max, of course, don't even have to blip the throttle on a downshift. i personally think the interior is ok, a true sports car isn't supposed to have a lavish interior, but don't get me wrong, the g35's are tops in my book.

Benj, you have very strong will power. I test drove one and I loved it too. They didn't make me an offer though. The only problem I had with the car was that the suspension was harder than I could probably live with day to day.

No way a shifter kart is smoother. I raced a 125CC CRG Kart and that thing pounded me. My whole body was sore when I was done.

has that TSB been posted? My max runs a bit rough at idle-I can't even explain it but I wonder if this is the fix...

The difference in money wasn't that bad. About $70 more a month. Wasn't really about the money. I need a real trunk for lugging music gear to shows for one. Plus, I have a feeling that I would rather have a manual tranny for my weekend car--not my only car. Don't get me wrong; I loved driving the 350. It was gorgeous to look at, drove great and sounded nice and aggressive. I like the tight suspension on the Z. I think its appropriate. I drove an auto 350 before the 6 speed and just couldn't bring myself to even consider a car like that without a stick, even though I can barely get around in a manual right now. Getting an automatic 350z is just too nancy.

That's hilarious, I get the picture, peering out of a mailbox. You are right. I would take the G35 coupe over the 350Z.

It's a day since I got the crank position sensor replaced and although my engine seems to run smoother, I think I have lost a few ponies. I used to get a pretty pronounced charge of torque around 3k rpm and now it just seems a little more linear, albeit less grunty. Maybe its my imagination or maybe the work I had done just made a difference. Ah...oh well.

Man, I am jonesin so bad for the 350 now. I keep rationalizing over and over again in my head. I mean, I'm 26 with no wife or kids, I rent, and can afford it without much strain. I'm so close to closing the chapter on the Max. This is torture

I'm in the exact same boat with you except I own my home. I probably couldn't afford a 350Z but I wouldn't let that stop me LOL.
