Squeaky Dash 2002 I35

All:
Bot 2002 I35 w/27k--awesome. Browsed all posts and agree on the variation in gas mileage, speed/odometer off by about 5%, and such.

Question: I have an annoying buzz/rattle under dash above steering wheel/near VIN tag when I slowly accelerate. Can't seem to pinpoint it.

Any ideas? Besides that, love the ride. My 9 yr old daughter calls it "The Pretty Car"

I know that sometimes the sensor on the defroster vent rattles in my car. your rattle might be a loose vent panel or something fell into the defroster vent.

Might have to live with it unless you know how to take it apart.

If you have squeaky plastic you could use WD40 but I dont know what to do if something fell in the defroster vent

thanks--I may have found most of the culprit last night:

The defroster vent has a circular plastic bolt/fastener about the size of a quarter on the left side of the vent. I heard the noise last night and touched the bolt/fastener and I think it stopped. It is a bit loose. I will try to wedge a toothpick or black tape under it to keep it from vibrating. Sort of like a guitar top the small vibration is broadcast over the dash top which makes the buzz loud enough to be annoying.

Thanks for the tip.

I have a nice rattle on the passanger side of the dash near the door. Ive taken it to the dealer a couple of times, but they have not been able to do much.

One of these days Ill rip apart the dash and find what it is. If you want it done right

Anyone have a similar problem and know what the cause is? It would be nice to have a starting place.
