Best cat-back exhaust for 2001 SE?

What are my options? Which gives the most hp gains? Any illegal ones I should know about? Most importantly, sound recordings/videos of what the exhausts sound like? Thanks in advance

What the Parts List? Doesn't help--it only lists GReddy as an exhaust for the Max, and I know theres Cattman, Flowmaster, etc.

Matter of preference. I like HKS and Greddy. No matter what exhaust you get, you won't see much hp on NA cars.

You must not know very many people with a GT or a Z28 huh? It all depends how restrictive the factory setup is.

You refering to flowmasters? They still only give 10hp, if that.

Go with the Greddy! I think it looks the best on the max, and it sounds killer! Super deep and throaty.

If a GT had an 1.5in ID catback stock, and you upgraded to a full 3in ID catback with a high flow muffler. You would get quite a bit more than 10hp. Like I said, it all depends how restrictive the stock setup is.

On a 2000-2001 Maxima, the stock catback isn't very restrictive, it might slow exhaust velocity at upper rpms due to the crush bent piping and the choke points just before and after the resonator. On a 2002-2003 the catback is the same as the one found on 2000-2001 maximas even though it has the larger engine. In this case you can add the same exact aftermarket exhaust to either model, and a 2002-2003 may gain 10hp, but the 2000-2001 may only gain 3hp. Same exhaust but one gets more gains based on the stock setup being overly restrictive.

I know GTs have little different setup than our Maximas. Point I was trying to make was that w/out boost, catback is worse hp/$$ mod you can get for Maximas. I wouldn't be surprised if you see less than 5hp gain from spending $400+. Sound from exhaust makes us think that our car is faster than what it really is. Exhaust sound is deceiving.

Well I do plan on getting probably a 75 shot of NX, so I've got you covered there. I am looking for hp, not sound. I definetly want my Max to be a bit louder/meaner, but I in no way want the overly-ricey sounding fartpipe. Based on what I just said, I understand I should be looking at the HKS cat-back and not GReddy. Sound clips of anything would be very helpful!

i say jkeep you stock exhaust just get the piping mandrel bent, team that up with a y-pipe and a hi-flow cat.

that all equals much better flow.
