How often do you use your high beams and fog lights? I rarely do. In fact, I don't know if my high beams are the same as my HIDs, since my HIDs are so darn bright. I only use fogs light when driving in the rain or dense fog, just to let other drivers see me better. Other than that, the fogs are not really that bright or useful.

Fog lights are useless in the fog (since they are clear not yellow)

High beams good for driving in dark canyons, high beaming slow-moes on the freeway.

Your high beams are a seperate halogen bulb. When you turn them on, the fog lights go off, just FYI. And yea, they don't really make any difference, IMO, they are pretty much a cosmetic thing.

yeah i agree. i think the only way fogs put any good amount of light on the road is if you have hid ones or an aftermarket driving light or something like that. i have never even used my high beams and don't even know if they work

With my crystal ion bulbs, the fogs work surprisingly well in fog, rain, etc... I always have the fogs on w/the headlights, except recently since one of the fogs is cracked (new set coming next week)...

Stock 2002. Keep the fogs on all the time with the low beams ... fills in down low, close, and a bit to the sides.

Drive a bunch on back roads, and have the high beams on frequently. Obviously not a bright as the HIDs, but they reach further down the road.

HIDs stay on with the high beams, so the relative brightness isn't an issue.

I leave my fog lights on along w/ my headlights. I use highbeam at night when people don't move out of the left lane.

Interesting. I read somewhere that aggressive and inconsiderate people tend to use high beams often, and that people who like to show off use their fog lights a lot. Please don't shoot the messenger and I don't think there is any scientific support for this!!

In my case, they are the inconsiderate ones for going slow and staying in the left lane.

High beams are good to warn other drives of cops and also good for "flash to pass" or just to get someone's attention

I always use the fogs at night in city and highway driving. I can only use my high beams when there is a break in oncoming traffic flow when I drive to work in the morning. There are Deer hiding in the woods along the road and I want to see as far ahead as possible. I use PIAA Xtreme whites in my fogs and high beams.

When my Max is in motion the HID's and fogs are on, day or night. It's a visibility thing. Especially with ppl talking on their cell phones all of the time while driving, I want them to see me as early as possible so that they don't pull out in front of me.

As to the Hi beams, it blows my mind that some of you don't use them. They are aimed differently than the HID's and greatly extend your viewing distance at night.

To the top...
You can't turn on your high beams with fog lights. The fogs will turn off once you turn on the highs.

I respectfully disagree.

I live in Iowa and in fact am about to embark on a 10 mile drive deep into rural america (near the Iowa, Missouri, Nebrasksa border-take a look at an atlas and you can see how desolate? it is). Fog light helps tremendously in fillinf in the ditch to the side of the car so I can see deer and other animals. There's really nothing on the road but me. I often only pass 5-8 cars in 60 miles of roadway and Im travelling about 20 mph faster than them . In fact don't even bother with my radar detector b/c if I see a car, 1 in 10 chance its a trooper b/c everyone else drive a full sized truck.
Anywhooo, fog lights are an asset in rural areas...

I drive with my low beams only during the day for the visibility aspect. I have been doing that since I got my first new car in 1984.
The high beams absorb a lot of the darkenss on an unlit rural highway. Especially with PIAA Xtreme whites. Gotta love it.

I'm talking about the ones that slam on the brakes when you flash them. That's why I stopped flashing people. I just wait until I can pass them another way if they don't want to move over. I have had my share of road rage over the years. Now that I have high blood pressure, I can't afford to let that happen.

I've ran into few people like that in the past. I start to flash before I get too close to them. It does make you mad when they slam on their brakes though.

NOw that many people have auto dimming rear view mirrors, I doubt if your high beam flashes would really get their attention :-) I always move to the right when I am flashed.

The thing I hate is when people don't drop their high beams when cars are coming from th opposite direction, especially on a narrow two lane route. The highs can blind you, which can cause an accident.

For some reason (probably a DOT regulation of some sort), Nissan decided to make the foglights only turn on when you have the headlights on. And the fogs turn off when you use the highbeams!

The following steps will result in the following behavior from the foglights: The foglights will turn on with the foglight switch whenever the parking lights, the lowbeams, or the highbeams are on. Only when the headlight switch is on the full "OFF" position will the fogs be off independent of the foglight switch.

The direction can be found here.

It is very likely to get anyones attention at night due to the side view mirrors not being autodimming. The high beams shine high enough to shine light into sideview mirrors from behind. In the daylight hours, it would be less noticeable unless the person was paying attention to their mirrors.

My buddies truck has cattle guard lights and he got it lifted just enough so that the lights go right in back window and lights up the hole passenger compartment....he is part of the reason I got my windows tinted so dark. The rear dimming mirrors don't help when your passenger compartment is full of light

The high beam (9005) twin pack is part number 19615. The fogs (H3) are p/n 15255 for the twin pack.

Silly question, but I never understood this: what are "parking lights"? Are those the lights on top of the orange blinker in the 2k2/3 lights? If so, why are they called "parking lights"?

Yes, those are the parking/running lights. If you look at big rigs at rest areas, you will sometimes see them parked with parking lights on. That's so your car is not in a blackout condition if you're occupying it while you rest or sleep.

That question has already been asked and answered.
