Stock 15" Nissan Maxima wheels.......

I need to know a few things about these....whats the weight on these? and will these clear the calipers on my 2001?? I dont have a BBK or anything, just stock brakes. Anyway, im trying to find something other than my 18s to run at the track and was wondering if these would work just fine. I think these will work pretty well to put some drag radials on such as a Nitto 555R or a BF Goodrich drag radial, it would be hella better than my 18" Motegis at least. Ive read that they WILL fit....anyway....thanks in advance!

Matt

hehe, I think you read my mind. kinda. I was thinking about the same thing - putting BF drag radials on my stock 15" steel wheels. Unless you're talking about other year wheels, I don't see why they won't fit your stock breaks. I mean my car came with those wheels and it was fine lol
I'm not sure how heavy they are, but I figure they are not even close to what 18" are. I can't promisse anything, but if I have a chance, I'll see how heavy my stock 15 steel wheels are.
Anyhow, it looks like some good drag radials on stock 15" is a pretty good money vs. 1/4 mile time mod. I think it's the way I'll go.

Best i could do today running with my 18s, and spraying only the top of 2nd and what little of 3rd is left by the time the 1/4 ends was mid 14s @ 97...Im waiting for my window switch to get here so i can focus on driving more than flipping switches before my car shifts, which is why i didnt spray 1st because it revs so damn fast anyway i would never have time to flip it off, then shift, and steer all at the same time...so yeah some smaller wheels and get that window switch in and im hoping for 13s in my auto...lol...i may be dreaming but hey i can always give it a shot.

yea, some nice slicks will help A LOT. lighter wheels too. In my case, I wouldn't mind some juice either lol

btw, how much did you pay for your kit and installation?

hey guys, calm down on the sigs. You don't need them for every post

stock 15 steelies would be a good track setup since they are fairly light (forgot exactly how much). Also, your freeing up rotational mass anyways with the smaller rims. And obviously they would clear your calipers as all stock 2k-2k1 ones have same rotors/calipers

Im not really sure where you can get the best deal on that...i would keep checking the parts for sale threads...you might get lucky and stumble across something there....other than that i dunno....

find out how wide the rim is and run the fattest tire that will fit within specs.

I've seen some members go with 300zx twin turbo rims up front so that it clears big brakes while providing a 16x7.5 inch rim (IIRC)

hmm...so do the Z wheels weigh less?? And about the tire to go on that 15, in a BF Goodrich gforce t/a drag radial the fattest tire available is a 225/50/15 and it will fit the rim...that would put me a little shorter in diameter than stock....would this help or hurt me since it would change the gearing slightly?? If itll actually hurt my times ill most likely go with the Z wheel if i can find one for a reasonable price....
