LocTite on rear brake caliper?

Thanks to the forum for providing some good info on replacing rear brakes! I finished in under 2 hours with great results (there were actually no snags, for a change!!)

Anyway, there were a few questions I had that weren't in the instructions. (BTW, I replaced both the rotors and pads with stock items):

1. I got new backing plates with the pads - should I have used that blue "squeal" stuff on them? I didn't, because it looked like there was none on there before. (Plus, they're real quiet now).

2. This was the last line of the instructions I received from the forum:

"Reinstall upper piece of the caliper...clean it up first to remove all the brake dust...tighten up the 14mm bolts marginally (remember how easy they were to remove)."

Should I have used LocTite on the bolts? The lower piece of the caliper had lock washers but the upper piece didn't. Will these come loose under normal use?

Thanks in advance to everyone!

When you say "stock items", do you mean OEM parts? If there was no anti-squeal compound on the old ones and you replaced them with the same pads, you might be able to get away without applying any. If the pads stay tight enough within the calipers, you won't get any vibration/squeal. I would not put locktite on the bolts unless it calls for it. if they are properly torqued, they should be fine under normal use.
