It took 15 days to get it this far, the paint on the body is curing right now and the bumpers, door handles and mirrors are yet to get sprayed. Its done in a paint called "Super Negro" which is the blackest of blacks and its base / clear (3-4 coats of base, 3-5 coats of clear).

man i need mine repainted bad, i took the bra off and the paint under it was runied, i just resprayed it quick so it would all match but its dull and not shiney like the rest of the paint, should i have clearcoated it ??
Great work, dude! I think I better say what I have wanted to say on these forums all along; 3rd generation Maxes arguably look best in black. Red comes in close second. And I am not saying it 'coz mine is black. That was my opinion before I even considered buying a 3rd gen....rest was luck!
That does look nice.
Most colors looks good with quality paint and a good painter. That is obviously not the Maaco presidential paint job. 8)
I have to say, though black is the toughest color to keep looking nice. I had a black Pathfinder and I had to wash that thing once a week to keep it looking clean.

Thanks guys
The stand was kind of aggravating to get the doors onto, it was a 2 man job but could have used 3 or 4 people. I left the glass in all my doors and I was really worried about scratching the tint or breaking the glass when I hung them because the hooks were resting right on the glass. But it all worked out really good.
I think the cost of everything is going to be around $1200 canadian, paint supplies were around $500, $300 for my boss to spray it, and about $200 for bodywork stuff, then towing fees and replacing a couple things I broke.
On the topic of stuff I broke, does anyone have a maxima they are parting out with some good weatherstripping, a couple pieces had tears in them and I imagine nissan wants a ridiculous amount of money to replace them.
Oh, and more pics of the car here http://www.sounddomain.com/id/8ride

hey 8 ride car is going to look sweet but too much paint can be a problem. It will eventually start to chip on its own. Light impacts will also cause it to chip. reconsider using single stage paint(basecoat, clearcoat mix)

I see your reasoning but its flawed. BC/CC is better than SS (easier to spray...easier to fix minor problems...easier to spray in metalics...etc). Base is not as thick as a single layer of SS paint so you really arent laying it on any thincker than normal (when you follow directions).
You need just enough base to cover (2 or 3 coats depending on color, whats underneath and brand obviously).
Now clears are 2 or 3 coat clears. Every Psheet I have read from any clear is 2 or 3 coats. The problem you run into is solvent trapping. If you put 5 coats of clear with a urethane paint you will have solvent trapping which is bad. I honestly dont think that 8 ride got that many coats but just assumed that he did (no offence to you 8 ride...its just that most people think the more clear on a car the better it will be but thats not the case). No pro painter (in his right mind) will put that many coats of urethane clear on a car. I have done a lot of reaserch and have talked to a lot of painters about this very thing.
Paints are not like the old days of lacquers where you put several coats of clear on and you bragged about having 7 coats of clear.
Clears today are called 2 coat clears for a reason. Believe me those 2 coats give you plenty of depth.
The only thing I will say SS is better for is for cheap paint jobs (will cost me $100 in paint to paint my 92) and for classic cars for people that dont like the "plastic" look that a BC/CC can give an older car. I do agree if you paint with SS to mix clear in the final coat for a nicer gloss but I would rather have BC/CC any day.
just my .02 on it and I hope I didnt offend anyone.
besides the car looks great and we shouldnt be discussing different paints on his thread to show off his beautiful paint job.
I am not a fan of SS paint, it seems to fade quicker and eventually you can polish right through it (happened many times at work on single stage paint).
Honestly, I think the door jams have 2 light coats and 1 heavy coat of clear. Most of the body has 3 heavy coats and 1 light coat.
And last but not least, update, I installed the doors and weatherstripping today, going to have the car towed back to my house tomorrow night so I can reinstall everything and begin wetsand polishing (although it doesnt need that much).
And everything except the rear bumper is painted now, I had a productive night

"Keep it up, take a nice fresh and shiny pic when you're all done and waxed up."
Isn't it gonna be like 6 months before he posts a pic if you want it all waxed up? I thought you couldn't wax for like 6 months or something like that?

looks very nice, mercedes black
I want to see a max in the same type as shaved max, except with bright blue paint. I love how my gold max contrasts between the black windows, black lisense plate holder, and black side moldings against the gold car. Looks 5x better than gold side molding... when I paint my car this summer, I'm going to keep the car considerably lighter contrasting color to black. Either gold, blue, or possibly red. I like how my gold looks better than the red tho :L
Nice job!
