SFMU Mounting Location

Anyone with the Vortec SFMU, where did you mount this unit?? I wanted to mount it on the firewall, but someone told me that it was illegal to do so...

Most people mount their fmu on the strut tower. I can take a picture and post it in a couple of hours.

Sorry for diggin up an old one but I want to mount mine on the firewall as well. Actually, I wanna to put it right where the cruise control vacum thing used to be. So, will I pass tech at the track with it on the firewall? I don't care about street legality as this car is way past that stage already, just track rules.
