Test pipe and smoke
I have a 3" resonated test pipe, the first time I have ran a car w/o a cat. Is it normal to get more "smoke" or vapor from the muffler with a test pipe. I get the usual cool morning vapor but I also get a bit when it is 70 degrees out and the car has up to temp for a while. Car never did that before the turbo/test pipe.
i don't know about the smoke mike. but i have a question for you.
does your exuast rattle before the car warms up???? im really it mine rattles like i have a few marbles rattling around in the exuast. its really suckys

Yes, that is normal. I get smoke of all sorts at all times. I don't mind though. It smells good to me.
How long is the resonator on the test pipe? If its shorter than 10", where'd you get it?

man i have traced the rattling its coming from the exuast. with gloves on if i put my hands on the exuast tank it will stop rattling. as well as if i were to step on the exuast tip with my shoe.
I get a good amount of smoke at high RPM with a gutted Cat and 3" Pipe. It's white smoke
. But compression shows as well within spec, so
When warmed up on warm days at cruising/low RPM however - I get nothing.
WHen I was testing the FMU and running pig rich on the Dyno, I shot a 3' long flame out of my exhaust....I've got it on video somewhere....

Isn't the idea of a wideband to have it as close to the exhaust ports as possible? If you have it way back in the test pipe there will be some combustion in the y and test that will skew the #'s. I know its a lot to run two WBO's but putting it at the collector at least seems like a good compromise between price and accuracy.
it is supposed to be at least 18 inches from the exhaust port. the collector would be the place of choice, but since there is no cat, the test pipe would give ease of installation andnot skew the numbers.
you want your egt probe as close as possiable, and i do get codes thrown saying my cat isnt working right (duh its freakin 3"). so your saying dont cut the 3rd O2 sensor out, just pull it from the bung and block off the bung or put a wide band there? im gonna probably do the WBO2 Innovative has a LM-1 w/ the gauge for $210
