Auto up/down windows....broken???

Whenever I put my windows up with the one touch window swith, it goes up and then goes down about 3 inches. I kept repeating this and it did the same thing for like 10 times until I stopped.

This happened before and when I took it to the dealer, it was working well. The dealer said that there is a sensor that may be dirty. Anyone ever had this problem?

Thanks

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Seems the problem is intermittent though, likes to do it when it is warm outside and cool inside the car. I thought about replacing the whole switch, but wasnt sure if that would cure the prob. It makes sense that it is a switch, but where is it located? Let me know if you find anything else about it, Im glad Im not the only one with a jacked up driver window!

this is my guess....just a guess....do your windows go up VERY slowly. a feature of the the window is that it's supposed to stop when it feels somethign is in the way (like a hand or a freakin head) and then drops an inch, which is what yours is doing. your rails may be so dirty that going up, the window things there is an intrusion. again, just a guess. but if that's the problem, silicone on the rubber edges and on the rails may smooth out the process and the window can travel freely.

Just this week my 42000 mile 03 Max starting doing this too!

Passenger side only, will close completely, then retract down about 3 inches. However, it will work properly when the "lock" feature is engaged from the driver's side. But then, of course, only the driver can operate that window.

I have had the same problem for some time now which started first being intermittent and now it is all the time. I had my Nissan dealer check it and they said it was a sensor that needs adjusting which is what I originally suspected. I didn't actually get the dealer to repair the problem (est. cost $95 CDN) as I didn't have time when the problem was first diagnosed. It also seemed like a problem I could probably fix myself and save myself some money. I believe this sensor is meant to detect if something is blocking the window and then automatically retracts the window 5 inches. It seems the problem is the sensor might now either be dirty or needs adjusting. However, I haven't yet determined where it is (probably in the door itself). I recently bought the CD technical manual for the 02' and '03 Maxima but I haven't yet found how to fix this problem or where to look for the sensor to clean or adjust it! I will re-post once I figure it out unless someone else out there already knows how to fix it. If so, please let me know. Thanks.
