How I found out that the dealer fcked me...

I thought I had transmission slip problem so, to fix that I took to a nissan dealer. Today they call and tell me that my transmission is fine, but my SES light bulb is missing(!!!!), and my MAF is busted. I bought this car in december, I got the SES light and under warranty i took to back to the dealer (Raben on Copsey Ave, in brooklyn). This is how they fixed it - they removed the fcking SES light bulb! The nissan dealership spent 5 hours fixing this problem cause they couldnt figure out why the bulb wasnt lit until they took apart the dash. They are not finished yet, but I figure its gonna be around $700 for the whole thing!

Now, there's gotta be some way I can get back at the original dealer. I am gonna sue the **** out of them, I just gotta find a good lawyer.

get all the paperwork from the dealer that is fixing your car now, saying that there is no SES light and that is why it wasnt lighting up, etc etc, and then bring that AND the paperwork from when your other dealer did the SES repairs, and show them all the paperwork, and ask if this is how they solve TSB problems. make copies of everything if u can. be polite at first, give them a chance, but if they deny it, then start pulling out the big guns.

good luck.

HOLYCRAP!!!

You're damn right there's gotto be a way to get back to the dealer that took that bulb out!!! I think you should call up Nissan NA and tell them about it... also have the current dealer that fixed the problem now back up your story! - Not sure if there would be any benefit but you never know!

Secondly you could Sue them just like you said! That is totally ****ED UP!

That is horrible! I would totally give Nissan NA a call and tell them the situation. With any luck you'll put a dent in that dealers reputation so big that Nissan NA will no longer support them as a dealer. This kind of thing is extremely inappropriate for any dealer or service center to do. Good luck and Show no mercy!

Yup, get a clear statement from the current shop that there's no SES light in there, and then call Nissan NA and let them have it. Hopefully you wont have to spend as much on your repairs. Good luck.

I probably should mention that it wasnt a certified dealer that took the bulb out. I bought the car from a dealer lot, not an authorised dealership. Since they gave me a 60 day warranty, thats where I took it to get the SES light fixed.

Whooooah~! NOW I've heard it all.

Sorry man, but that's just crazy. Of course, sucks for you. That's got to be illeagal, since when you SELL a car you're pretty much "swearing" you've disclosed all known issues, however I have never heard of that actually happening. Then again, this was after the sale on a warranty, so may not be valid.

Contact your local BBB(Better Business Bureau) and file a complaint, however I'd be willing to bet they've already got a bunch.

So it was not a Nissan dealership that took the bulb out, rather a private used car dealership?

Tampering with a "malfunction indication device" with intent to avoid repair and service costs should be illegal no matter what. I mean, by warranty they were suppose to fix the problem not cover it up.

Yes, the private dealer. Nissan was the one that discovered it. Not that they are not screwing me also. $79 per hour for 5 hours for diagnostic and ~$300 for MAF replacement.

it shouldnt matter what dealer, if they are ASE certified, let them have it with all you can. i mean, the SES is not something they should screw with like that, like he said. especially if it was within the 60 day warranty.

...if it was a used car lot, perhaps the person who SOLD it/traded it in to the used car dealer took the light bulb out b/c they didn't want the used dealer to know that it had something wrong with it when they traded it in.....just playing some devil's advocate.

I took the car to the dealer lot because of the SES light, which they "fixed" by removing it, so it doesnt bother me I guess.

Well look at it this way; It's illegal in any state to tamper with emission controls on a vehicle, so I think you would have a really good shot if you sued the friggers.

Certainly sounds like it, can't you get the MAF for under $100 from DAVEB and replace it yourself?
