Y-Pipe= worth it True CAI= still not sure

I have read everything there is to read about y-pipes and CAI's. I am getting a y-pipe and have an ebay true CAI coming tomorrow. I am not sure about the CAI. I dont mind if my car is a little loud as long as its not like those damn civics. I also dont mind if the loudness is coming from my engine area. I am very curious to know what exactly the CAI sounds like. Is it tolerable? Does it sound ricey? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Also, if I get a y-pipe should I get the hiflow cat with it?

at normal speeds you cant hear it at all. i hear a slight slight slight growl but at wide open throttle your engine will sound like a beast. it in no way sounds ricey at all (not to me at least). you will love it!!!! which ebay intake do you plan on getting there are 3 to my knowledge. One which is a HAI(a pipe which ataches the throttle body to mass air flow sensor and a filter., one which is a CAI that requires you to drill into the wheel well, and one which is an injen CAI style. i have the injen style cai and i love it, nice pick up after 3500 rpms. ver easy to install(1/2 hour)+(and i suggest when you install your intake clean your throttle body as well it is reallllly worth it)My intake sounds great at WOT and definantly turns heads. as far as y-pipe it is def worth it, very good performance mod. there is a GD going on now in the group deal forum and it is 160 bux for a warpspeed y pipe. thats what im currently in now. as far as i know a hi flow cat is like 5 hp so its up to you. you may also want to check into a light weight under drive pulley, it should free up at least 5-7 hp if i remember correctly and engine revving is improved. those are basic boltons off the top of my head. good luck with your car man!!!

I'm told by guys in the modding business the reason the Hondas and other riced out mobiles sound like the wet fart machines is because they chopped up their exhausts and put in those cannon tube mufflers which aren't installed right. He said that you get no stuff sounding like this when you do CAI or Y-pipes the correct way.

part of the reason that they sound like that is because of the displacement of their motor, and part of the reason is because of the high rev's and lack of torque that they produce

I love the way the CAI sounds. It's deep, but doesn't have the frantic wail of the hybrid (hot air intakes). The around town driveability of the CAI is quite a bit better than that of hybrid intakes. I ran at the track yesterday with temps in the 70 degree range and I pulled three 14.4s@97-98mph with mid 2.2 60 foots which is right in line with what my hybrid intake would do in cooler weather.
