Tranny shifting late...due to new rims?
Tranny shifting late...due to new rims?
I have a 2000 MAxima GLE (Automatic), and I discovered the other day that my transmission appeared to be slipping going from 1st to 2nd gear. Doesnt seem like a complete slip as if its acting like its in nuetral, but it revs too high, and does not shift as soon as its supposed to. I took it to my local AAMCO, and they said that the transmission was fine. They mentioned that there could be a problem because I have 20 inch rims on my car, and the overall tire diameter is a little greater then the factory wheels/tires. He said that I would need to get a new TCM (Transmission Contro Modual) that would compensate for the larger diameter since my transmission is computer controled.
Has any one ran into or heard of anything like this? Im tryin to find out as much as I can before I shell out a buncha loot to have the dealer look into it.
