*Attn more BRAKE problems* Does anybody know why?

Ok finally got done w/ installing all rotors & pads. (brembo slotted & Raybesto QS)

Now took it for test drive & it was stopping on a dime. Then after driving around for 10min. brake pedal seemed to become looser & looser when pressing on brakes. Now I have to put pedal down 3/4 to have it stop & its a delay for car to stop completly.

Not sure what it is & i'm not going to fck around no more with these brakes & dropping it off at mechanic tomorrow so they can fix it.

But curious to know if anybody ever had this problem & know what it is?

thanks

brake fluid. Did you drain some when installing the rotors and pads? did you close to cap when you finished installing? Did you fill it back up? Maybe that is the problem....not brake fluid

that would be my guess, that or either a bad master cylinder or a leak in the brake lines
just a thought, i'm no brake expert

Bleed the brakes, that should solve it.

That'll be the ticket for ya. I ran mine last night after I FULLY drained the system, put about 3/4 liter throught the system...pedal felt tight.

Then drove it around, and as expected, the pedal loosened up. I then put another 1/2 liter through the system. So far so good.

Did you crack the bleed screw at all? If not, you should not have issues in theory. Because when you back the piston up...it should push the fluid back into the res. tank.

If you have not bled your system in a while (2 years or longer) might as well take the opportunity to do it.

Good Luck!

I would def. check the brake fluid level. If that's topped off and you are still having this problem then you still have air in the brake lines or perhaps your master cylinder is acting up. I read in the '02 shop manual that you're suppose to remove the fuse for the ABS to bleed all the air out. I neglected to do this and my brakes are good.

I did bleed the brake with engine running and have no problem since.
Brake working great, but the dust accumulate a bit to fast. Any way my braking is better than stock.

Please make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable before doing it!

In the ESM is SPECIFIES to either remove the sensors (a pain) or remove power...easy. Better safe than sorry, especially over a 2 second procedure.

If he did not replace the calipers, there should not be any air in the system. As I understood his first post, he replaced the pads and rotors only.

I don't think you need to bleed the system.

Whenever I change brakes, they feel a bit spongy and less grabby at first. They need to wear down a bit before they seat properly. Once they are broken in, the entire pad will be contacting the rotor and they'll be more effective, and even feel a bit more firm.

The reason they felt OK at first is because they were cool. Once they heated up, materials expanded and probably even less pad was contacting the rotor than when they were cool.

Give it a few hundred miles. Once they bed-in, they'll feel fine.
