Beeping after ignition

Hi All,

This is my first posting on the org. I bought my 99 SE late last summer... and I've been coming to the org ever since. This is my first Max, and I think it's awesome. Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

So after a few months the normal beeping after I start up began to sound like it was dying. At first it was normal... then some of the beeps would be sort of shorter. Now I just hear really short quiet beeps. But if I open the door while the keys are in it, or if the lights are on, the chime works like it's just fine. So is the Max trying to tell me something?

Also, I've seen in the FAQ's something about people with late '99s not being able to activate the diagnostics - or use the same codes - but to be honest I haven't tried to do that yet.

Thanks again.

What are you talking about? Must be a 99 thing because my car doesn't beep when you start it.

Try to put your seatbelt on before you turn on your car The beep is just a warning that your seatbelt isn't on. At least it is on my Max.

Thanks All,

I'll try the seatbelt thing. What about the chime sounding like it's dying? Where would I start if I wanted to fix that?

Welcome to the org.

Might I suggest reading the owners manual and also purchasing a chiltions or a hayes manual.

Good Luck
