anyone know the location of the pcv valve?

 

Its on the back of the intake manifold. It has a big hose attached to it and it has a place that you can put a wrench on it.

 

what happens to let you know its bad?
i didn't even know the ve30 had one...

 

not sure about where it is on the VG but I know it is a P.I.T.A to get on the VE. Actually took me forever to find it and get it out and replaced. I caN go out and check on my VG to find where it is if someone else can't help you out on here. Good luck

 

before you go and rip the pvc valve off go to the dealer and order the hose that connects to it too. i went to replace mine and the hose deteriorated. hint, if you look at it and touch it and it feels like plastic you need a new one. i think it was 12 bucks and special order, so dont get stuck with a vacuum leak for a week until the hose comes in, do it ahead of time

I agree with shavedmax, I actually tried to replace mine about a year ago and that hose broke in half when I tried to pull it off. On the VG the PCV valve is black with a hose leading to the right valve cover. Its to the right of the brake booster line.

 

The SE has a pcv valve in a terrible place to replace it. If you look between the firewall and the rear of the intake riser on the passenger side (you may have to lay on the fender) you will see it about a foot down sticking out of the head, with a 90 degree hose coming out of the top. I replaced mine after 150K (probably should have done it sooner) and it helped a hesitation problem I had. It wouldn't be so hard to do, but there's several metal pipes in the way ( I think they're from the air conditioning?).
I bought two of those long, 11", needle nose pliers, a straight and 45 degree bent, and those worked well to remove the spring clamp and hose connection from the top of the PCV. Be careful taking it off, because I don't know how you'ld replace it if you broke it, it's that hard to get at.
I then used a socket on a universal joint (valve sticks out at 45 degree angle towards firewall) to remove it. Try to wash out area or blow it out ahead of time as there's much dirt caught around the valve base. Now here's the tricky bit. I had my wife thread the new one in, since her hands are smaller and could get at the site to replace the valve. Even so she could only get a 1/4 turn at a time on it. Once she got it started, then I could use the universal joint and the socket to finish threading it in and tightening it. Then I used the long, 45 degree needle nose pliers to reinstall the hose and clamp. Luckily the oil from the blowby keeps the hoses lubed to removing and reinstalling was eased.
