Replaced 2 batteries only to find out my radio was draining my battery. If the car was not driven for 2 or more days it would not start. Since disconnecting the radio there is no problem even after sitting 2 days. What could cause this problem with the radio/cd player? It is an original factory unit. What would cause the power consumption when the car is not running?

 

Can you turn the radio on with the key out of the ignition? If you can then it is wired directly to the battery instead of the ignition switch. Which means it would be getting a constant 12v supply from your battery!

When I took the car to the Nissan Dealer to locate the problem they recommended I take it to a radio shop for repair/replace. They left the radio disconnected so that it would not further drain my battery. I would like to try your suggestion.
Do I have to take the radio out in order to hook it back up? Best way?

here you can see how to remove the head unit (then just plug the connector on the back and put it back on)
BTW I JUST DID this 20 minutes ago (5:00pm), because I was fixing my head unit. takes about 5 minutes to remove. (very easy)
