can someone tell me what the heck is a y pipe?

i keep hearing about tyhis y pipe and im very much into performance but don't know what this is suppose to do .

Maybe if you read a few threads below you would know. Now you are definetely gona get the newbie hazzing.



Basically the Ypipe is the pipe that joins both banks of the V engine and sends it to the CAT. This pipe basically removes the pre-cats in the pipe that rob some HP. Precats are there for emmision purposes.

all the y pipe does is get rid of some ristrictriction allowing faster and better air flow..
however it is "emission illegal" but you can get around it ...
best gains if combined with an intake
