Hi!
Hi!
Hi everyone, I'm new. I have a 1990 Maxima SE. It needs a lot of work done to it. How should I go about this? The paint needs to be redone(uh oh, better get Macco?), it has a warped flywheel, and the Sony system doesn't work and makes freaky noises. Other than that it runs fine and I plan on turning it into a respectable piece of machinery one day. What are some do's and don'ts about making exteior modifications? I don't want to screw it up. Is there an "ultimate, must see website" that I need to check out? I'm new so I appologize if "uber noob" is pasted all over me by asking stupid questions. By the way, how DO you stop the freaky noises cominng from my speakers? I've heard it's a commom problem. Thanks
Welcome to the org-y. Well let me be the first to say this get all of the mechanical problems done first before you get the paint job. Warped flywheel equals aftermarket lightened flywheel. THe noises you hear from your speakers are because of bad grounds. It's normal especially if you are running an amp. Most likely you are because the HU usually doesn't produce that noise. Check out the FAQ's because there are some sites that are very helpful in maintaining your max.
Exterior Mods:
Bodykit (Custommaxima.com or Stillen.com)
Wheels and tires (anywhere)
Clear corners (Ebay or Custommaxima.com)
Tinted windows (A must)
Neons (Jus messin with ya!)
But mainly eBay can be your friend and enemy. Another thing is the Group deal sections and parts for sale sections. They are very helpful. I might see you this summer since I'm going to the University of South Carolina but will be in ATL every weekend (Holla at cha boi)

Flywheel is on manual trannies only, Technically it's considered a flexplate on Automatics.
They are also totally different from one another and completely incompatible with one another

How do you fix the problem with the bose speakers anyway? I've found nothing the faq's and I can't use the search button. Several hundred pages is a bit daunting. I'd like to replace the speakers any way wih new ones later so could that fix it?
One more thing. Is installing a body kit a big job? Sometime in the future I want to put on the Stillen one. To those that installed it, How much did it cost total? After shipping, installation, and paint it might be a little rough on the wallet if you know what I mean.
