Why doesn't my antenna go up?

The radio works but at times there is bad signal and it sounds like static. very unclear sound. I find this really annoying especially when good song is on.

Why doesn't my antenna go up? Could it be a fuse or some bad wires? Any help is appreciated.

Do you hear the motor for the antenna when you turn the system on? If you hear the motor running and the mast does not raise, the internal mechanism is probably worn out. If you don't hear the motor, there is probably a wiring problem. I'm just about sure that your bad reception is partially due to the non operational antenna.
