finally changed sparks w/ OEM NGK Platinum

so after spending $100.71 at the dealership ($15 per plug!!), I had 6 OEM NGK spark plugs in my hands. At first, I was considering going to kragen after getting the $$ on the plugs, but then the parts guy talked me into getting them. Whatever, i'm never touching the plugs on my maxima again! (currently 165k miles!)

I got Vinh (KrzyMax) to help me with the install. That last spark plug in the back was such a *****! But after removing 2 bolts that held that thingy (whatever it is), it was so much more easier.

So yeah, the last time the sparks were changed was at 90k miles.... so I think after driving 75k miles, it was time. I did a dyno last month and came up with about 160 hp. I'm hoping it was the sparks that were bad.

I took it for a test drive... i think i gained the 20lb of torque that I had lost! At least that's what it felt like.... definately an improvement.

so yeah.. expensive maintenance, but well worth it.

if anyone is curious to see the part number and junk, here you go:

yeah... i literally don't have time during the weekdays and SMOG check is due very soon. Since a fellow ORG member was over, i thought I could get his help and just do them. I called up the local auto store near my place and they quoted me $2 per NGK plugs for my car...... didn't sound right. I just went to the dealership and paid for it.

Why do people think it's a good idea to make threads about changing their plugs? I mean it's probably one of the easiest things you can do on the max, almost everyone has done it, and there is nothing special about it. I mean if you installed your new supension put on a MEVI, or got something custom done then post it. If you installed new plugs, keep it to yourself, especially when you couldn't do it yourself or if you got raped on the price. BTW please let us know next time you put in some windshield washer fluid or when you add some headlight fluid.

Here is the problem. Some of those on the board are novice and to change the plugs is a big deal, so they like to post about it. No harm done IMO.

Unfortunately. But that's not the reason. The boards are becoming such a NEWB colony that it's sad to see a veteran like nadir making such a pointless thread. I would understand if he actually expalined how to do it but he didn't. He just said he did it and nothing else. Yes he said he removed 2 screws, but he didn't say which ones. Now if he said he removed the 2 screws holing this
in place, then that would be more helpful. Yes I know it's not the EGR, don't bother telling me.

Copper is a better conductor so if you're performance minded, you should go with copper plugs.

Plus they're about 1/5 the cost. No matter what one you choose ONLY USE NGK. The coppers are NGK part number BKR5E-11, nissan part number 22401-50Y05. I don't know what the nissan number is for the plats.

i know that copper plugs are a step colder. If so if having a plug that is a step colder would that result in a loss in hp?
