EGR cleaning service?

Has anyone here ever had this done on their max...I pulled code 03/02 (egr..hi/lo
flow)...it was suggested to me that carbon buildup has blocked EGR passage and has to be cleaned out..Any ideas how much it would cost?

Do it yourself. Here is a writeup for the 3rd gen: http://www.geocities.com/cbmaxima/maxima/egr/egr.html (thanks to Craig). It may be more dificult to remove the 4th gen EGR, but other than that the instructions should be the same. I did it and it took 15 minutes. Obviously, the new gasket part # is different for a 4th gen. Hope that helps.

For me yes, its not hard to take both of them off.
I weigh 250lbs and got it off ,just put my chest on the IM and reached behind with a crows foot.
The small tube was 70% blocked i acid dipped it and sandblasted them out. All stumbling went away and hesitations.

I noticed absolutely no difference between a busted EGR and a working one. The only way I knew it wasn't working is because I failed NOx twice.

I was going to clean mine a couple days ago and I took the whole Intake assembly off and tried to disconnect the egr tubes but I could barely see them nevermind get a wrench in there. Did you have to take your intake manifold off to do this? If not how did you get the tube off?

Just like I said in my first post put your chest on the Intake manifold ,knees should be on the radiater. Lay rite on top of the engine.
No the Intake manifold stayed on but I had the intake system off along with the TB and IACV body.

In theory, the egr only works at cruise or light acceleration. When you floor it, it will not have any negative effects.
