Budget Y installed after 1.5 years of ownership

I know it's crazy to have mods and not install them right away but I finally got around to doing it on Tuesday. I took it to a known exhaust shop here in MA and got the Y install along with a new Rush #144 SS 2.25" straight through muffler with a 3.5" tip.

Impressions: I thought I had a fast auto until I got this sucker opened up a few times on the way to meet my wife and kids in Boston. I felt the difference right away. When the car is on, you can't even tell there is a y pipe on the car because its just as quiet as the stock pipe (no bees whatsoever). The car sounds like a German sports car and it sounds mean when you lay into it. At cruise speed (around 75 - 80), the car is a tad louder that stock but when you're under 2500 rpm it gets droney. I'll live with the drone because the power feels the way I want it, linear (the more I hit it, the faster the car goes). At idle, the muffler has a nice, low tone. Not as low as a V8 but really low for a V6.

This install was done perfectly. The header bolts were heated and removed with little torque as possible to prevent the header bolts from snapping, new hangers were installed, flange on the cat was cleaned with a mini grinder and everything was connected with a perfect fit.

Next to go back in will be the VI and this year I'll be patient with the electronics. Some of you guys know what I mean from last summer.

Updated Muffler Info: I had the wrong info but it's now corrected.

Sad isn't it? I just couldn't get the time to do it after my daughter was born.

About time Dana. After you get that MEVI on, get it to the track. I'm eager to see what those two mods can do for you. You already were able to run a 15.6 bone stock.

If I weighed 105 like Blu, I'd probably run 12's... I'm really curious to see what I can get out of it with these mods because the car was already quick and now it's borderline to very fast. My car feels perfectly tuned also so that's another plus.

I will be ready soon and I'm not going to go with an ECU with the extended limiter because I don't want to rev me aftermarket alternator that high. I might blow it.

I will need to replace my oem soon. Winter in Minneapolis are very harsh.
So far I have 2 options:
1) http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/xl/xlchamber.htm
Model 13255
2) http://www.dynomax.com/superturbo.stm
Model 17747
Just looking for info.

I can't stand not installing a mod. The second I have time or money to install, I do it.

It usually works out where I track the package in the mail and have everything ready to go when the mod arrives, so I intsall it almost instantly.

glad to hear you finally got it installed.

Yeah I don't know how you can wait that long... I had my wheels shipped to my work and went out at lunch time to put them on.

I loved the performance gained after installing a Cattman Y. BUT I later had a full custom 2.5" exhaust with Brospeed muffler and it was wayyy too loud. I hope it doesn't annoy you too much, the drive for me at low RPMs was unbearable.

Plus I didn't notice any performance increase with the catback

Yeah, I've had my Motostorm UDP sitting in my room for something like 3 months now, I really need to get it installed... I even went out and bought the belts and oil ring seal pretty much the day it arrived. Summer is almost here though, so it'll give me some free time... to bring it to someone with a lift and air tools, heh.

I had my springs and shocks in my room for about a month and I couldn't stand to look at them. Then I finally took it to Ben(mzmtg) and got them put in. I could not live with a y-pipe sitting there for 1.5 years. haha

I hope that is my next mod.

I had my springs for about 6 months before I put them on but people were telling me to drop it ever since the Maxus 2001 meet. I finally dropped the car last summer.

My Y-pipe has been sitting in my weight room for around a year. Those bolts are hard to get off, fortunately my sister's boyfriend just told me that as a navy officer he has access to the garages on the navy base with all the power tools and such. Should be installed before I go to Gainesville for school.

Now let's see how long it takes to install my 300z blehm brakes, and my new shocks and springs.
