I'm trying to find out if anyone here has both Place Racing motor mounts and LSD. Right now with mods I've got, which are listed on my sig. I have massive problems with traction. Now, I'm not talking about everyday driving, but just the occasional race. I hate it, because most of the times these cars that I play with I should destroy, but I just sit there and spin all the way through 1st and 2nd gear. This is even if I get off the throttle. Anyway, I'm looking at getting an lsd, along with JWT's clutch, flywheel, possibly cams. Also, Warpspeed's b-pipe, stage 1 SFC's, and a greddy e-manage system. I'm just wondering if the lsd is going to cure most of my traction issues and also will the SFC's help out at all. Oh, I'm also switching from my Yokohama ES100's to Toyo Proxy 4's. Please if anybody has PR motor mounts and lsd or at least has knowledge in this area, tell me what you think. Will my traction become very minimal or is there no cure.

sorry to break it to you bro but traction is 99% driver. all those doodads are only there to give you a little boost and some will only increase your traction issues.

For a street launch i usually take it up to 2500 rpm and slip the clutch out while modulating the gas until I hook, then i ease onto the gas until i'm WOT so I don't suddenly break traction again.

You may also want to look into stickier rubber, Eagle F1's are great... and watch your tire pressures, 33 psi hot is good for a street launch but will wear your tires down fast.

I heard the owner of Frankencar (Steve?) was making a bunch of motor mounts, filled with poly urethane. I don't know if he still hangs around here since he sold his Maxima. But here is a tip for you: 4th gen motor mounts can be used for 5th gens, and auto/manual doesnt matter. They're interchangeable.

The launch is definately the key. Heck, with my HTR+'s at 25psi and a relatively clean track I can still spin them 1/2 way+ into second gear.

Do what Hal does and drive around with slicks on

 

What tire do you have? Try investing in stickier rubber - since i got my Pirelli's it's been hard trying to spin these things.

 

Mikey, how do the Pirelli's compare to the HTR's you had (granted, I think you had low rubber on the HTR's)...

 

For the record, my HTR+'s were 225/40/18 and i "upgraded" to 235/45/17 P-Zero Nero's.

That said, the PZero's are quite a bit quieter and ride comfort has greatly improved. Traction is also quite a bit better - but as you already know my HTR was on its way out so it's hard to really compare these two. But judging from the reviews on Tirerack, i shouldn't be too far off in terms of describing the Pirelli's.

I've put on just over 1000 miles on it already and the "hairs" on the rubber are still there - so treadwear should be pretty good on it.

As for the HTR's, there has to be some truth to the comments about uneven wear - i kept good track of the pressure on those and the center really wore down faster than the rest of the tire.
