if you're talking about the lights next to the headlights, it's the same way for all 4th gen. I would NOT recommend doing that mod. It WILL eventually crack or melt the lenses. They were not meant for that kinda heat. But, it's your choice.

you could try a 1156 bulb. They're single filament and I think 21 watts. I've used an amber one for awhile now and my lenses are fine.

You must have removed the nubs because they are different on the 1156 and 1157.

I'm still looking into making the 97-99 clearance lights actually use both filaments like the 95-96s'.

I didnt remove anything. The 1156 fit right into place. The nubs on the 1156 bulbs are at the level (not like the 1157, where one is higher)

all you gotta do is shave the HIGHER nipple off the side. (When holding the bulb w/ the glass facing the sky)

Right, and the socket in the 4th-generation clearance lights has nub slots for 1157s, hence you'd have to get rid of at least one of the nubs on a 1156 bulb to get it to fit....

why s it the gettho way? it is easier, and just as affective. and it is much easier if you want to go back to normal lights.
