Engine rebuild and internal engine mods?
Engine rebuild and internal engine mods?
My '00 Max has 108k miles and its running strong, however I was thinkin if an engine rebuild is due soon (is not leaking or burning anything)
I dont drive the car much at all and I would have the time and $$ to do it, but is it worth it? what type of internal engine mods are available? or should I be spending the $$ somewhere else
I would do it myself, i have rebuilt GM and Ford V8 engines and have the tools (not sure if I am in for a surprise with a jap V6!)

it would be cheaper, and more simple just to buy an engine off of a junkkyard, or ebay and just plop it in... my buddy blew his engine in his 2k2 max, and he got a new one with 14k miles for $350, and installed for $600. this is much better then taking the whole engine apart and replacing everything...
but the vq engines are known for lasting 200k+ miles... if it still runs strong, and your not leaking, then don't worry about it!

American cars don't last 100K miles. This is a wards automotive over and over and over Best V6 engine in the world winner. They don't need rebuilds. Its not a Toyota that will leak from every possible gasket by 100K miles eighter. Its not a Honda that will go through 5 trannies by the time it hits 100K miles eighter. Think of a rebulid somewhere around 400K miles or so MAYBE.
