SE Taillight Swap Anyone?

I was wondering if anyone was willing to swap their '00-'01 SE taillights for my '02 tails.
It seems like the 00-01's look a lot better on black maximas. Chicago area is preferred for a swap, unless someone has an extra pair laying around that's not on the car. Thanks guys!

I was kinda hoping on finding someone in the chicago area, meeting up w/ screwdrivers in a parking lot and doing it like that. hehe
If not, I guess we could ship them to each other. I'm a pretty trusting person. Or we could use an escrow service too. I'm up for suggestions!

Yea, i did find my match! I don't have any pics off hand, but they are in perfect condition. I only have 8000 miles on the car, I keep it in the garage, and I hand wash it every week. They're basically brand new. As long as yours are in great condition, we can do this. PM me.

Ghostrider and I just did a swap (in a parking lot). I have a 2k and he a 2k2. I wanted the silver and he wanted the black. You will need to swap the harness as well or it won't work. Needless to say, it would especially suck if you did this through the mail and there was a problem.

We first disconnected the bulbs from the light units, removed the light bulbs, and installed in reverse order. Only problem is one of the bulbs is too big for the hole on the new light unit. We thought we were SOL.

We solved the problem by transferring the harness as well. Instead of removing the bulbs and swapping the light units, we simply disconnected the harness on the back of the light and transferred the harness, bulbs, and light unit between cars.

The harness's are compatible and we have experienced no problems.

Thanks for the advice! Is there anything complicated about removing them w/ the harness? (Such as any clips that can break from pulling the lights out the wrong way.) I'm assuming this should be an easy task.

mdeal...what about the need to reseal with silicone that I keep reading about? I remember one or two org members saying that they've had water leak into the trunk since doing the swap. Did you reseal and have you had any problems?

I ask because I'm also interested in swapping/purchasing black 2k tails for my 2k3.

There is quite a bit of the gooey sealant on the body and the light unit once you take them apart. I added no more and am monitoring to see if it leaks. If it does, I'll get some more sealant and apply. Meanwhile, I am doing nothing. The lights fit snug and there was some sealant all the way around.

The harness is visible on the back of the light unit. I simply unplugged the large white connector directly on the back of the light.

I'd swap with Maxi113, if these smoked SE tails look good on a Polished Titanium Maxima but it looks like crap on Polished Titanium.

The sealant that Nissan uses for the tails is the same stuff used when a new windshield is installed. Black round stuff. I put a new 'rope' of it in the chanel on the tail when I changed mine. No leaks yet.

Also, if you heat up the sealant in the tail, they come out a lot easier...or let the car sit in the sun for a while.

Thanks for the info guys.

I wouldn't swap out the tails on a Titanium Max either. The stock tails look great on that color.
