What should I expect (MAF)?
What should I expect (MAF)?
Ever since I got my car I noticed something odd about it. It pulled great in the low range, (a great improvement over my TL), however power seemed on and off at high RPMs. It would come on and go from 4000-6500. I felt like it didn't have as much power in the high range as I expected. Another worry was that I didn't feel like the car was as fast as my old car. It should be at least as fast if not faster. I remember the time when some Chevy pickup truck beat me from a dig at a light until about 50 mph. Granted it was a new truck, it wasn't a performance model.
Currently, my car is at the dealership, hopefully getting a new MAF when I pick it up.
Like I said, I think the car had a bad MAF from the day I got it.
Should it be a lot better than what I've seen/felt so far?

I just picked the car up from the dealer. My extended warranty covered the diagnostic and repair. Apparently the MAF was signalling wrong to the O2 sensor to make the car run lean. That is what is stated on my receipt at least. The total cost of the sensor and the repair and labor was, get this, $215 and some change. That is the whole assembly, the tube and all. I can prove this because they left the stock tube on my passenger seat. The new one is much more clean, with shiny, not rusted, bolts.
The difference is remarkable. The car drives better now than it did the day I picked it up, which was little over 5 months ago. There is so much power in the high end, I love it!
I'm even more hesitant to install my Berk Intake. Should I be?

Maybe this weekend! Now I just have to finish this 10 page research paper.
Sorry, I didn't know you were from the 'nati. Falhaber Nissan on Colerain. I was uncertain the first time i brought it to them. Since then, however, I like them.

Just changed the original MAF on my 2000 to the updated one last week. (Have the Berk intake) Keeping the orignial as a spare. Slightly smoother idle/acceleration now.
Part number for the 2000-01 is......22680-2Y001.
One difference I noticed is that you can't see the wire inside the MAf like you can with the original. Seems the wire is hidden, maybe to give it some protection from stuff that gets past the filter.
Anyway I am hoping with the new one in place I won't have to worry about it blowing like the originals seemed to do under WOT.
