Rear Brake Pad Install ??

The stock pads on the rear started squealing yesterday at 37K. I'd already purchased the metal matrix pads from SW Autoworks so the install was done after work. 90 minutes, no big deal. Took the car for a short ride to have an end of the job cold one and no problems, smells, squeals, etc....
This am on the way to work I could smell overheated pads. When I got to the office, approx. 16 miles in rush hour traffic, my rear rotors were definatley hot to the touch. Burn your skin hot...don't ask how I know. My fronts were also quite warm but I don't think as warm.
Yes I have the tabs lined up with the caliper piston and my fluid in the reservior is about even with the max fill line.
Does this sound like just a bedding issue or maybe a mis-adjusted e-brake?
Comments ??

Thx.

I'd pull the rear calipers off and inspect the parking brake cable, try working the parking brake lever by hand with the caliper removed, etc... make sure there's no sticking parts.

Was it just 1 side that was hot, or both?

The right side was hotter than the left IMO. The right side was also the side that was squealing with the old pads.

Probably a bad (sticking) caliper... or the parking brake cable is really messed up.

Doesn't sound like you'll find the problem until you go and check the entire rear brake setup. If you say it's just one side then it could be a seized caliper. Take the rear brakes apart and compare the pads to see if they are evenly worn. You might have to rebuild or buy a new caliper. Actually, how did the old pads compare? Evenly worn?

I guess tonight I take it back apart again and see if anything looks out of place.
I find it odd that a caliper would go at 37K but I suppose it could happen.
I think I'm leaning towards a hanging ebrake.

Adjusted the ebrake all the way out and they are still rubbing. The ebrake is returning to its stopper just like it is supposed to.
Removed the stock shims last night and things seem to be better.
This weekend I'm pulling the rubber boots off that protect the piston and cleaning evrything and then reassembling. My only guess is the pistons are not returning all of the way and allowing the brakes to drag. A caliper rebuild may be in order, S**T! I hate doing that stuff!
Talked to Stillen and they had no ideas. Steve from SW Autoworks sent me the shop manual diagrams and everything appears to be correct.
