Tips And Tricks? Anyone?

Ok since im still new with this car, and its nothing like a 68 400ci with only a block and a carb and 2 wires running the motor LOL. Anyway theres a few small things done to my car underdrive pully and an injen intake. I dont have much money right now since i just spent all of it to pick up the car but what can i do small things to help the car out? I never really played with a rice rockets was always into hotrods but decided to take a different turn cause i just love the style of the 5th gen maximas. So if anyone can help me out with a few things would be appreciated. And also what do u guys think about advancing timing does it work the same as it does in hotrods cause my idle is low to me like 500 to 750 thinking maybe 800 to 1k would work for a better take off time. TKX

Install clear corner lights and do the flashing modification from the how to's.
Igor just posted a how to fog light/hi beam on mod.
Nothing else is as cheap to do as the light mods and they are fun to do.

is it wrong to use the term rice rockets? y are some of u ppl getting affended by it u should he happy that as small as these motors are they can dust some v8's and ****, i wasn't using the term to offend any v4's or v6's. I have always liked these type cars but hot rods were just easyer to work on and if anyone of u have worked on a hot rod u would understand. what kind of power increase would i feel with a y pipe?

the term "rice rockets" started out as a word to describe bikes but later got branded to japanese import cars as well, the term "rice rocket" is subjective. everyone has their own definition of it. but to me, it is usually a car w/ altezzas, large aluminum spoilers, loud *** fart exhausts, type-r emblems, non painted body kits, or hubcab spinners.

basically, it is a term that should be kept to oneself because it is degrading to the import scene.

and a Y-pipe would be a nice next mod.

Get a Y Pipe
FYI...Maxima's are not in the same class as cars which warrant being called "rice" as in the following pictures. You won't see .01% of Maxima's looking like this (hopefully)

A fair ammount of domestic guys consider all jap cars rice, rice rockets, etc. but ricers would be the cars seen in SEmy2k2go post.

Who really cares? IMHO you guys are taking it the wrong way, and thats a heck of a welcome.

800-1000rpm is a unecessarily high idle for a maxima.
I believe (I am not sure though) that you need a Consult (or dealer) to advance the timing on the VQ. I'm not sure

I've also got more like 10 wires on the mustang, then again I did add the MSD so that added a few

Since you already have an intake and UDP, as I mentioned, a Y Pipe provides a nice increase for the 2000.
I'd start there and search around in this area for to see what some of the 2k guys are adding to get more power.

Please, save yourself some money (for the y-pipe at least) and DO NOT do the tune at the dealership. Best way to do it, take the flyer from the dealership, see what they do there (most of the stuff you'll be able to do yourself) and then go from there.
