Just an overlay of my best dyno vs the fastest all motor Maxima 56k lookout

Here is the post with all the information. This shows why he is out trapping me by almost 6mph with only around 14-18 more peak whp. His times make more sense to me now...looks like the familiar DE-K power curve

OK for those who don't understand what they are looking at...

Blue line - blubyu2k2 best dyno 2002 Automatic traps 101
Red line - SR20DEN best dyno 2002 6 speed traps 106

This is just to show why his car gains so much on the top end compared to normal VQ35DE Maximas such as mine. Both are all motor and his mods are listed in the link.

AFter seeing this i realize there is NO reason to make a brand new manifold. Seeing as how I can make the stock one flow enough to use up the stock RPM range.

As soon as I can get my hands on an end mill I'll sell them as complete units minus core. Right now all my work is done by hand and there is still more hp left to be tapped.

The next time I dyno i expect to see the stock Maxima dyno numbers 255hp 246tq.

SR20DEN - When you install mods, do you reset the computer, or let it adjust itself?

Looks like an MEVI vs USIM dyno except like 60hp higher.

Very impressive number indeed.

However I don't think 14-18whp is why he's out trapping you by nearly 6mph. If you look closely he's only has a significant power advantage from 5700-6600rpms. In 1st and 2nd gear that's pretty much meaningless. Not until some of 3rd and then 4th and 5th will that power really make itself felt and that's at speeds well above 100mph. Most the trapspeed difference has to do with your automatics gearing and drag. The gearing of the 4 speed auto isn't nearly as good as 6 speed for 80mph+ acceleration plus an automatic has no direct mechanical linkage to the motor at WOT. What's accelerating your automatic VQ is fluid motion thru the tranny which creates a ton more power loss than the mechanically driven gears of a manual. I'd imagine your VQs are pretty close from 0-70mph and you may even be quicker thanks to the torque multiplication of the torque converter, but above 80mph the superior of the 6 speed gearing takes over and accelerates the car harder on the far end. This is very typical of LT1/LS1 auto vs 6 speed cars. In the 1/4 mile they are very close ET wise, but MPH wise the 6 speed owns the auto by about 3-5mph. When I had my auto 94 Z28 that went 13.4@103mph, I owned a ton of 6 speed cars on the street and track. On the highway, I stood no chance above 90mph. It was silly how hard I got walked.

Something to consider here is your auto 2k2 would probably be making roughly the same power as SR20DEN if you had a 6 speed. We've already seen dyno proof that the Nissan autos suck out about 15whp over the manual with 4th gen guys that have auto to manual swaps. I don't see why the auto in the 3.5 VQ would be any different.

Yes we are pretty close from 0-80 as you can tell from out 1/8th ET's, and I realize he has a hell of a lot more power top end hince the DE-K look alike power curve comment. 0-80 its close but after 80 I just walked pretty good 2+ cars at least when before the A/C removal and IM mod it was around a car length. As far as the power difference its around 8-10whp. The stock autos make around 190-198 and the stock 6 speeds make 200-208. I think the torque of the 02-03 helped keep the auto vs 6 speed a little closer than pervious auto vs manual years.

That's a sweet look HP curve. I wonder if it would hold that power to 7100 rpms?

Both cars are running VI's. I don't know much about the manifold on the 2k2/3's, Am I wrong?

Deezo: Mine is no longer a VI.

03BlkSETE: Yes. I will get the TS ECU set to 7200+ and add more 'secret sauce' to my IM to make use of it.

As you all can see my power curve is still flat from 5800-6600 which means I am stil not peaking. There is more work to be done.

Sounds good. Please let us know when you are ready to market the IM. I'm ready and willing to buy ASAP.

Is that why the typical VQ35 power dip appears to be eliminated at 3800 rpms?

I am trying to imagine what you have done, but I have really no idea what the 3.5 IM looks like so I am really confused.
