Sunroof Won't Tilt up all the way; then won't come down
'98 Max
Sunroof slides back and forth fine, including the little drop down it does at the rear to operate. But the sunroof will not tilt properly.
When you try to tilt it up, it only rises about an inch in the rear, then the motor starts to labor like the mechanism is stuck and it doesn't go up further. Sounds like the mechanism is stuck. Once in that barely up position, it will not want to come down or go up. Motor just labors trying to go either way.
If you play with the slider switch, eventually it moves back into down position and will slide again. You can repeat the "doesn't tilt enough; now it won't come down" scenario repeatedly, although getting it back down seems high risk. The manual close allen option is very tight. Feels like I am going to break something if I turn it either way.
It's not the switch - I've swapped that with no change. Also, it's not the motor, that's working. I've cleaned the tracks, although I supposed there could be a twig or something caught in the tilt mechanism since I can't see much of it at all.
Ideas? Is removal and examination of the mechanism the only option?

Did a little checking in the junkyard today and was able to fairly easily crank one open and closed.
Seems like it might be normal that it only tilts up an inch in the back in tilt position? Can anyone confirm?
