99 Maxima SE security system(won't start)

I tried searching for this, since it's a commonish problem, but the search seems to be disabled...

I have a 99 SE with traction control, and it won't start, seems to be that the key lost its programming. I can't find a procedure that would let me reset the codes myself...is there anything I can do besides have it towed to the dealer? Several pages I have read about this mention a process in the car handbook, but I don't have one. Anyone mind posting this procedure?

sorry i can't help, but the same thing happened to me 6 months ago on my 99 SE. i had it towed to the dealership and they charged me $50 for a new key.
