Have some WD-40 handy to spray the bolts, exersice your hands/arms, or call a shop and look for the best price. . .

Got all the tools you'll need?

12mm deep socket (3/8" drive)
3/8" drive universal socket
3/8" drive ratchet
WD40
10" 3/8" drive extension

WD-40 is just a lubricant. Use PB Blaster on the rusty bolts...especially with a Minnesota car....

Use the existing bolts (if you can). The nuts fastening the pipe to the headers should be fine. I made friends at the local dealership and they gave me all the nuts and bolts I'd need so I used those but the bolts that were on there originally were still in usable condition.

Get some gloves. Everytime I got a bolt loose, I was applying so much force that my knuckles would smack against the undercarriage and take a layer of skin off each time...

Lift it with either ramps or jackstands. And SOAK the bolts with WD40 or PB Blaster (your choice) prior to working on the car. I did mine over night.

I'd say prepare to take your wallet out and take it up the a$$...

My bolt threads are rusted off completely, so I'm gonna have to take it to an exhaust shop to do the work. They quoted me $240 for installation of ypipe, cat, bending a 2.5" bpipe, and muffler.

I guess that isn't all that bad of a price. This place does come highly recommended and I've been told they are usually the cheapest. I'll also probably be able to get the work done before the weekend!

lata,
drew

My car was in Virginia for the first 3-4 years of it's life. That was enough to rust-weld the entire exhaust together even after being driven in the south since then.

About 1/2 of the 6 exhaust manifold bolts snapped. That was after I found a shop that would / could do the work, and I could tell they regretted taking the job.

Charged me $120? Something close to that for 3 hours of labor. Every tech in the shop was working on my car an hour after closing and ****ed.

you all are doing it the hard way , i just took off the stock y pipe with the cat still on, and torched them off .......after 3 hours of fighting with the bolts. And please use PB blaster, it works magic and WD40 is nothing compared to it.

i think that you can get the pb blaster at autozone. JLiusifer this mod is easy to put on. The bolts may give you a problem but when you put on the pb blaster it's cake from there. I don't think that you should have a problem. It's easier done than said.

start sparying the wd40 on the bolts to the headers and the cat. Good luck and try to avoid stripping your bolts
