what a max looks like when a blazer t-bones it doing 70+mph

this is my friend tims 91 gxe he got for free and we converted to a 5spd

this happend in kansas city KANSAS on april 26th on a way to a concert my friend tims was driving and only had some bruses and cuts but the passinger had all his ribs broken, fractured scull and a lasrated kidney

there both fine now so everythings alright but the thing that sucks is that kansas is a no fault state so he wont get any money for the car since he didnt have full coverage

the police officer said he was very serprised either of them survived as you can see i dont dought it

Man, I am glad they are alive. That scares the crap out of me, cause my son sits on the rear passenger side in his carseat and I would hate to see the outcome of that.

How did the wreck happen? Man, the B pillar really got indented, as well as the doors. Then again, a car just doesn't have much crush space on the doors. And a 70 MPH tbone from a bigger suv is a tough hit to take. Who was at fault? The passenger should sue for pain and suffering-just show a jury those pics...

Suck to see someone doing 70 in an SUV but then hit a smaller car at that rate. I'm suprised at the inuries. Something was with them that night. I wouldn't even want to see a riced out honda get hit by that at that rate of speed. Think about how much the max weighs (3400 lbs) compared to a 95 Accord (2851lbs). The max is heavier.

He's getting no money for his car. If it was his fault then he won't. But if the Blazer is insured then his/her insurance company has to pay for the damages. My max was rear ended a few months ago but the other persons insurance company had to pay for my car's damages or take it away and pay me retail KBB value. Since there wasn't any major damage they just paid for the dents and what ever else.

just to confirm i was not any part of this accident

the guy in the blazer was fine im pretty sure he walked away althought the blazer did flip a few times

this is a quote about the no fault insure off this web site

http://www.car-buying-strategies.com...insurance.html

What is no-fault?

Some states have "no-fault" laws, meaning your auto policy must pay for bodily injury and property damages regardless of who caused the accident. For example, it's often difficult to figure out who caused a multi-vehicle collision. The laws were enacted to keep insurance costs down and to expedite the claims-paying process.
No-fault laws also say you can't sue another party unless the damages and medical bills are above a certain amount, which varies by state.

as for whos fault it was let me explain the accident as described to me

my friend was making a left turn on a 2 lane highway with a speed limit of 55mph on a green light (not a green arrow) there was a hill ahead which my friend could not see over and started to make the turn when the blazer who was speeding according to the cops flew over the hill and slamed into the max.

so its technically its the blazers fault since he was speeding but since my friend didnt have a green arrow the whole things kinda fuzzy

anyone living in kansas if you could explain the insurance from your prospective that would be great

This is why SUV's are stupid. If he had a sports sedan and he had some driving knowhow then he could have avoided the max. This just makes me sick, not to mention it gets 11 mpg!

holy crap, great thing both people are ok now. did the blazer run a red light? if it was the blazers fault then why doesnt he just sue HIM?(personly i would kick the living day lights out of who every hit me like that)-if i lived. people need to pay more attention.

Yes it sucks that he was hit by an SUV, or atleast a truck based one. Yes they tend to do more damage, but really SUV's are just trucks with out beds (or atleast the real ones....).

The Blazer driver was most likely just not paying attention. If you had a maxima and a Blazer neck and neck on that road, the blazer driver would be able to see Matt's friends maxima before the other maxima could.

I could be abit biased though , My Dad has a 98 Durango, my stepdad has a 99 Surburban, and my mom/stepdad have a 91 Jimmy as the family car. Granted IMHO we should have bought a conversion van instead of the surburban since it has never has and never will be off-road and is just used to haul the family around, and the Jimmy should be a car, since I'm the only one that takes it offroad, and even then I never really do, plus my maxima is better in the snow than the Jimmy is

woah.. ouch. glad everyone is okay- relatively speaking. a chest full of broken ribs definitely doesn't feel good (not that I'd know- I've never broken a bone in my body), but at least he's alive.

thanx to all u guys who are glad to see that i am ok i really appreciate it. I would never wish a accident like this on anyone. I still have trouble sleeping cause everytime i close my eyes it playes over and over. The worst feeling i had was that i thought i killed my friend tony the passenger cause he was pretty much laying im my lap with a bloody nose and was life less. It sounds scary but when he started to have siesures in the car it was reasuring to me that he was still alive. The driver of the blazer was just shaken up. He was able to get out of his car on his own and he was walking around. My insurance company told me that he said it was my fault but im pretty sure its not. But with the @ss backwards laws in kansas i will not get a dime since it is a no fault state. But thank u i really apreciate that u guys care.

this is why i didn't get that REALLY low-mileage '93 N/A MR2 (1-owner, low as hell price) a few days ago...ever since SUV's became popular its just not safe to drive a small sports car anymore.

wow im really glad to see you and your friend were not seriously injured, tragic things like this happen every day, but to encounter it yourself and live through it should have you feeling a little bit better about enjoying life to its fullest potential. the sad truth is suv and truck sales arent gonna diminish anytime in the future, and even tho we drive pretty hefty cars weighing in at 3500 pounds, thats nothing compared to a 2 ton diesel dodge comin your way at 45 miles an hour :\. sorry to go off topic, especially in a time like this, but since your car isnt really salvagable are you gonna be parting it out, or just drop it off at a junkyard.

Holy crap! I'm glad your friend survived that, but that looks like it was lucky. I do find the pics good though, assuming I was about to be hit in a simmilar manner, I'd like to have several seconds to sum up my chances of living....

I'm glad to see the drivers side is virtually untouched, but thats not very comforting for the passenger side. Then again, I have seen little hondas hit in simmilar situations, and that kind of damage extends to the drivers side... it's definatly good you guys were driving a larger size sedan -

Good luck with the insurance though, in Arizona, any left-hand turn is considered "at fault". My sister had two lanes clear to turn, people were stopped and waving her through, when a truck came by at ~35mph, past where his turning lane ended and slammed into her. So he wasn't in a lane when he hit + he was speeding....
We're still arguing with his insurance and it's been months... :/

Glad to hear they are ok. No fault insurance here in Michigan too. I need full coverage if I am still paying off my car. If car is paid off fully, I can decide to have full coverage or switch to no fault. Is it the same in Kansas?
