new pics. lamin-x FOGs
my narvas finally blew out after 9 months.. so to replace them. first i got cheapo nokya yellow h3 from ebay..they are crap!!! then 55watt candlepower h3.. those went yellow enough for me either..
now i 'm using lamin-x film.. its a pretty unique look. color output is nice. not as yellow as the NARVA. but this way i wont ever crack my lenses.. i may doble up the film after it cures to get an even deeper yellow..

more on my www page 6.
paid about 20 shipped for the sheet.. www.lamin-x.com

now you just running 55w H3's?
They look pretty good lit up, but I am not so sure what I think of them while the lights are off and just sitting there.
They might look better with another layer of the film on there. Good idea.
Does this make the lenses any hotter than normal? How hard was it to do?
Keep us posted.

lol nismo.. is that your car.. damn.guess im not the first one..looks nice.
im useing the stockie 55w h3's.. i cut them myself. to the touch. it makes the lense cooler..cause there is a buffer zone.. but im sure because it unsulates the real lense, the actual top of the lense under the film is probably hotter than normal.. but the film is pretty thick, so i doubt a splash of water will affect teh temp enough to crack it..

MACIEK-
its cool..to all their own..i dont mind the contrast.. and the yellow light serves a purpose in bad weather. thanks for the opinion. im sure alot of people wont like it, but aslong as i do, thats all that raelly matters.
bruce- it was really easy to put on. take out eh fog. cut it out. wet the glass ..put it on. squeegee out the water.
trim with a razor.

this is how i did mine:
it was real easy.. i got this translucent paint, it says DIA-WYTE LTD at the bottom of the can, and it says "YELLOW-LIGHT" in the middle of it the cap is yellow
anyways
took the lights off the car, cleaned them, taped up around the lenses where i didnt want it to get painted, and then put on about 6 -7 coats of the pain, it was easy, and the paint comes in a spray can
this is exactly what it was

im biased.. as you can see.im against blueish colored lights. im for like, amber/yellow. i got silverstars cause they arnt blue, just clean white..
i honestly dont think it would look good against your red max.. maybe on a black max or a white max.. but thats IMO..but if you end up doing it..post some pics..or ask someoen to photochop slight blueish tint for you.

I was just throwing that out there. I donn't know that I really like it either, but I was just curious.
I think it will just make the light look a little cleaner white. (did you look at the pics on that lamin-x site?)
Anyway, thanks for the honest opinion about not liking the look on my car. I told you honestly so I appreciate that.
later...
I just think the shape of the stock fogs don't work with the yellow film. I've seen that kinda thing done on some nice Tegs and WRXes and it looks real good.
But it does serve a function and you can't argue with that.

I'm not feeling the yellow tape... I have the same problem as you though... I keep blowing yellow H3 bulbs like a ****. I've tried PIAA, Candle power, and some yellow ebay ones. They all blow. I'm going to try putting in some some yellow capsules over the stock h3 bulbs.
Looks good Max Noob. I had seen taht other car around here before. I'm not sure the film is my style either, but it looks like you got pretty good results so
For those who don't like the film: My new fogs are in with the Catz bulbs (if you haven't been following the yellow fog saga, I have abandoned the Narvas after cracking my second set of fog lights). They look pretty good. Strangely, the yellow is about the same or even yellower than the Narvas from outside the car, but seems less yellow from inside the car. That may be a product of the lower wattage too though.
I will post pics soon.
That's cool, what is your plan for getting them in there? Are you going to drill the housings or do you have a way to get the lenses off or...??? I emailed hidtech a while ago about their capsules and they said I would need to get the lenses off which I have heard is impossible. I got a PM from a dude last time this came up saying that he did something similar and ended up drilling a hole in the housings to get the capsules in. Wouldn't be too bad if you could cover the hole with something that would be permanent...

You know what's too bad? It's too bad that no one, I assume anyway, makes a capsule that's small enough to go through the hole in the fog. There is *plenty* of room around the bulb for a capsule to slide in there with space to spare, and it could be secured using the same flange as the H3 bulb.
This is such a dumb problem. It's such a simple thing but no one quite makes the right part to fix it. a capsule that gets inserted along with the bulb would almost certainly work and solve all these problems, but as far as I know no one makes them...
