hit 60k on the odometer and the clutch is starting to slip?
the symptoms started over the winter time. at highway speed, the engine sounds like it's got a wobbling sound shifting into 4th and 5th gears. this happens only if i shift quickly. if i granny shift, there is no wobbling sound. this also happens when i'm already in 4th or 5th and abruptly lift throttle then quickly mash the pedal. the same wobbling sound from the engine happens. it sounds as if the clutch is grabbing and releasing rapidly. it only happens for a second or so if i hold the throttle down. is this the sign of a slipping clutch? i've read about this happening before, but i'm not sure if this is it because i've got so low mileage for my model year (60k). also, i double clutch/heeltoe/matchrev EVERY downshift. could this have anything to do with it? has anyone had their clutch deteriorate? was it gradual or rapid? thanks.
maybe all those 1/4 mile runs did something to your clutch? I remember DBM back in the day saying that a good way to tell if your clutch is slipping, go 50-55mph in 5th gear and floor it, if the RPM's go up faster than the car should be accelorating than its slipping
yes, i remember those posts. it's not like that though. in my S13, before the swap, i'd have the clutch slip like it's in neutral. my maxima's motor does this sort of wobbling sound for a second when i attempt anything abrupt like a fast gear change or just lifting and slamming on the gas in 4th or 5th. it only lasts for one second. seems like the clutch lets go then grabs rapidly for a second. maybe this is just the start of a wearing clutch? as for running 1/4mi runs, nealoc has over 100k on his stocker and has like 3 times the amount of launches i have lol. i don't get it. plus i double clutch, matchrev every downshift to lessen stresses on the trans. i'd like to know if anyone else has gone through this and how long should i expect it to last.
