Brake pad dusting: menace to society

Okey Dokey, I got some Bendix pads from internetautoguy this past winter and they have been just dandy for me. Of late, however, they have started to dust like it's going out of style. The weird thing is it's much worse on the drivers side and only on the front. Might be because I'm too fat, but I've been doing like 5 sit-ups before bed so I don't think that is the problem.

Also the passenger front is squeeking when I brake. The pads all around are still very good, but they are crapping on my drivers side wheel and squeeling on the other side. Would a good helping of anti-squeek stuff help? Oh and what's a good pad that doesn't dust as much as these bastids?

Danke

Well mine don't give off a lot of dust, normal I'd say, but my front driver one does squeak, still trying to figure this one out.

Also when I jacked my car up, and put it in neutral, my front wheels started spinning I bet only a handful of you ****ers can do that!

well there are dustless brake pads but you have to trade mileage for the dust. if you dont mind forking over cash every 10k-20k miles to replace the pads then go for it.

It's normal for disc brakes to start squeaking - esp when they're worn in & dusty. It's the brake dust getting in between the pad & the caliper, which keeps the caliper a few thou'th of an inch away from the pad. What you're hearing is the pad knocking into the caliper due to movement from the disc. Manufacturers fit "dust shims" to reduce the squeaking, but most people end up throwing these away.
You can coat the back of your pads with anti-sqeak (it's like a syrup) if it really bugs you...

Some pads will give off more dust than others. The fronts will always be dustier than the rears as they do the most work.

Well I just replaced the fronts, and that's when they started squeaking, and I did put the shims on. It's only on the driver side and when I jacked my car up and spun the wheel, but the squeak didn't come from the same place everytime...

Aye Carumba! Read my prvious post & repeat after me:

It Is Normal. If It Bugs You, Coat The Back Of The Pads In Anti-Sqeal

Sometimes the factory fit shims cause more noise than thy should - esp if you've changed the pads. Normally the factory pads have an anti-sqeal substance on the back so the shims "stick" to them. When you change the pads, the shims no longer "stuck" to the pads and can also cause sqealing.
If the sqeal happens at the same place in the rotor, then you have another problem. If it's arbitary, it's movement in the pads (NORMAL). If it only happens when you apply the brakes, and it's a constant sqeal, change the pads.

Well I have a question, my pads came with shims, and when I changed my pads the old pads I replaced didn't have shims. I put the ones one correctly, yet still squeaks...where can I get anti-squeak

I've never had trouble with squeeling/squeaking brakes, I always do my own brake jobs as well.

Recently I switched to bendix IQ, they came with the squel shims and grease. No problems.

Previously I was using Axis metal masters, and the brake dust made grunting sounds when stopping. their was also excessive brake dust, which was pretty annoying.

Stopping power is about 90% as good as the Axis pads.
