You need a resonator if you exhaust does not have one already.

Give it a week, mine quieted down a bit a week after installing my ypipe. Also once you get that rattle fixed it wont be as raspy.

That's really funny to hear, I'm about to put the same setup on!

Performance wise, what do you think? For the price, I guess you can't beat it. The OBX "Type Racing" full stainless catback I just ordered was $309.99 shipped.

As soon as that and my y-pipe get here, I'll be a happy camper.

Get a resonator if ur catback doesnt already have one. On my old honda the catback exhaust and header got louder as it wore in but again its a honda and its a different brand exhaust.

1. get a resonator on ur b-pipe
2. put ur silencer back on ur muffler
3. u'll get used to it after awhile
4. maybe u'll like it without the resonator and the muffler

lol...my friend with a GSR has DC header, high-flow testpipe, greddy EVO midpipe + JDM tanabe muffler. this setup is hella loud...so he went over to local exhaust shop. the owner had an extra universal magnaflow SS muffler (same as mine) laying around his garage...so he welded the muffler on his midpipe as a resonator to quiet things down. lol so technically he has 2 mufflers on his car now. lmao

It's an OBX so it won't be quiet. The raspiness will be there also. Try to put on another resonator if there's any space left.

Doesn't it come with a silencer? Looks like it does in the pic ... guess I'll find out soon enough.

As long as it makes more HP, I could care less what it sounds like. Although, my wife may have a different opinion

as far as the "resonators" in that catback, I'm almost positive they don't do a damn thing. I have the same setup, wsp ypipe + obx-h catback, and I also have a test pipe cat, and mine is also pretty loud, though honestly I really like it. I'm a fan of it b/c its not too obnoxious during regular driving, and on the highway, it quiets down to almost stock level, which considering the amount of highway driving I do, helps quite a bit.

I say get used to it, as you'll miss it if you get rid of it (at least I did when I sold my 300ZX with a loud exhaust and bought a stock maxima)

I figure, as long as everyone who doesn't like the sound is behind me - I don't care

i have the same setup and if u want it to quiet down then take off ur y-pipe. when i had just the catback it sounded nice n deep but once i added the y-pipe all hell broke loose and my car is the loudest of all my friends rides. but i love how my car sounds, thats just my 2 cents.
will

I agree, before the ypipe was added the exhaust was fairly quiet, I was suprised how much louder the ypipe made it, but you get use to it. Still its a fairly good deal but I think I would go a different route if I was going to do it again.

so whats the consensus on the noise level with just a WS Y-pipe w/ everything else stock?

I've heard from some that it changes the tone - and from others that it sounds no different than stock.

If it were my car, Heck - I could give a flip....but this is going on the Wife's 98 max. I wanted a little extra kick in the pants for when I occasionally drive, but not at the expense of much added noise on her daily driver.

thanks...

you need a resonator like everyone is saying... and the deep throttle sound will be there at high RPM because of the better flow. easy on the throttle

I don't mind a little extra grunt at WOT - she drives like a little old lady half the time anyways (it's a shame). Most of the discussion I see above re: resonators seems to revolve around silencing exhausts that have aftermarket catbacks. Should I expect the similar sound levels with factory cats/bpipe/muffler?

We're new to the Maxima scene, and I've never heard an aftermarket ypipe on one - I can only cringe in horror as I imagine the max sounding like the buzzing fartmobiles I hear daily. If this or anything close to this is what I'm in for, I may have to pass on the pipe install.
