2001 Rear Oxygen Sensors and ECM Reprogram
Hey guys, since the search feature is disabled, I was wondering if anyone has some advice on where to get the rear O2 sensors and why I need the ECM reprogrammed when I replace these.
The dealer checked the Service Engine Light ( I wish I had a consult) and told me I needed the rear O2s replaced and the ECM reprogrammed for the low low price of $650 dollars.
Anyone offer any advice on where to get the O2 sensors and WHY I need to pay for a reprogram.
TIA.

where is northern VA are you? i have a connection at a dealership in sterling and i can get you a good price on the sensor.
you wanna know how you reset our ECU (ECM)? unplug the battery overnight!!!
now you owe me $500 for that advice
let me know if you need any help
its not a ecu reset. its an update to ecm to change the tolerances of the o2 sensors so you arent replacing them in another 30k miles. they have a tsb for this issues which includes replacing both downstream o2 sensors along with ecm update. mine was covered under extended warranty since they went bad at 38k.
The stealer is a rip-off
I just had this done on my 2000 max w/ 55k and my stealer only charged me $200 the part alone was $130 then $35 for install then $35 for reprogram.
You would be better off buying it from autozone $89 its a bosch sensor I believe thats what nissan uses!
The bad thing is I bought the O2 sensor removal/install tool on ebay months ago for $8
My dealership is pretty consistant on their charges last time I replaced my MAF and then they only charged me $35 for the reprogram.
hope this helps

Does $80 sound right to you guys.????
The dealer was Brown's in Sterling off 28 where we bought it. I have no problem ordering and installing the 2 new Bosch sensors that's no biggie (do I need a special tool I have yet to get under to look).
What I have a problem paying for is 2 new sensors at 70K when I have only run premium gas and paying for a ECM program to use the sensors. If the sensors are faulty and it is a manufacturing issue with the ECM and sensors it should be Nissan's nickle not mine. They just did do the latest TSB on the ECM a few months back and no we gotta do it again.
Print out this TSB and take in your Owners' Manual that states the ECM is covered under the FEDERALLY MANDATED 80,000 mile Emissions warranty.
